Hot damn but that Stereolove tune (me and timy mix) is amazing. It's like if you take the doomy-fuzz template laid down by Bangalter "outrage" and Vitalic "la rock" and cross it with the Cosmos style sweet-synth overload thing and build it to the nth level.

Is their other stuff this good? What's worth searching...

La Onzieme Marche (Rollercoaster Mix) or (Alexander Kowalski Mix)

Rollercoaster one has the most mental breakdown of just about any record, it's like going through a tunnel, a gigantic rolling French buildup all filtered down to one synth, then a split second pause and it all comes back.

Senor Coconut-Smooth Operator (Agoria Remix) very like Stereolove, I actually prefer it.
Dibaba-Hold You (Agoria's Bear Mix)

The album is good I guess, I mainly like the singles, Kofea/Sky Is Clear are good. Michael Mayer's remix of Sky Is Clear is ace in an oldschool way.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 08:51 (twenty-one years ago)

the michael mayer mix of "sky is clear" is lovely. jack rhythms and pianos - winner!

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 09:00 (twenty-one years ago)

ops, ronan beat me to the punch there

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 09:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Are they french, btw? The artwork on the stereolove 12" is too nice to be german...

Jacob (Jacob), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 09:02 (twenty-one years ago)

It's one guy, Sebastian Devaud, and he's French yeah. You might like the Oxia album 24 Heures, if you're into Agoria's stuff. It's a bit more "cosmic" I guess, but not in as bad a way as that might sound. There's a load of really good French techno at the moment.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 09:03 (twenty-one years ago)

There is, isn't there? It's in that Ivan Smagghe psychotic electro-techno vein mostly, right? Verging on being trance but in a good way...

Jacob (Jacob), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 09:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Yep, speaking of which the new Black Strobe "Chemical Sweet Girl" is great, dark and gothy and nasty, there's a left/right panning guitar part which would sound amazing in a club.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 09:24 (twenty-one years ago)

I think that with the exception of the Tricky collaboration, the whole of the Blossom album is pretty great - it veers nicely between techno, electro, scuzzy Laurent Garnier-esque house and more mellow, microhouse-inflected stuff. ie everything I like at the moment :)

I haven't heard this Rollercoaster mix yet - the problem with the album version of Le Onzieme Marche is that its TOO FUCKING SHORT. He pulls the plug just as things are getting going, and I want at least another six minutes.

I might buy this Oxio record this lunchtime.

so he's collaborated with ark on his new album on what is easily the dirtiest sounding micro distortion funk thing that james brown's 47th descendant from the future never will make.

Just got his Cute & Cult mixcd. Mixed without software. And it does have, I dunno, character? Anyway as stipulated by EU law it features the Holden rmx of 'Safari', but I don't mind, never tire of it (although it's my fifth(!) mixcd which uses the bloody thing :) Nice mix of bobbins, minimal, Detroit and neotrance...all the good things in life ('Age of love' suddenly sounds like the freshest thing ever.)

1. badalamenti - mulholland drive/ love theme
2. carl craig – experimento
3. luciano n luciano - stone age
4. sieg über die sonne - love is ok (r. villalobos rmx)
5. extrawelt – soopertrack
6. radiohead – idioteque
7. a.kraml feat shad privat - safari (james holden rmx)
8. alter ego – daktari (robag whrume mix)
9. agoria - les beaux jours
10. matthew jonson – marionette
11. the age of love - the age of love (watch out for stella club mix)
12. sleep - archive research
13. 69 - filter king
14. iggy pop – nightclubbing
15. agoria – lude
16. 69 - no high- finale
17. swayzak – another way
18. basic channel - phylyps tack 2
19. sasse soul sound (dirt crew mix)
20. mgi –rainbow
21. a. rother – back home
22. lfo - lfo

I wonder if mixing Mathew Jonson into Jam & Spoon is trying to make a point...

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Saturday, 5 November 2005 06:43 (nineteen years ago)

Python... No Bite :B (flezaffe), Saturday, 16 September 2006 10:57 (eighteen years ago)

The new single is a pleasant suprise if your not xpecting anything. Its better than the stuff on the first album but not as good as le 11ieme marche. Does the electro thing better than Alex Gopher and the old french DJs have managed so far

raw sweaters annoying brother (raw sweaters annoying brother), Saturday, 16 September 2006 21:39 (eighteen years ago)

im afraid the new single is better than the stuff on the second album too (which is called The Green Armchair btw - thatll teach me to get my info from amzon.de)

Well his Fabric 57 mix is certainly turning some heads. It's quite Radioslave-ish: heavy, driving, percussive. I probably like this the best of all his mixes.

paulhw, Tuesday, 24 May 2011 22:34 (fourteen years ago)

I've been meaning to check that Fabric mix out. I heard Magnolia on a mix and recently and was blown away

Fabric mix is stupidly wonderful. The dOP remix of Clara Moto on there kills me every time. Proper vintage Kompakt sad vocal techno stuff:

At least I've been with you
At least I've been with you
At least I've been with you
At least I've been with you
At least I've had you for a while...

then BAM, it gets all stripped back and housey.

Darren Huckerby (Dwight Yorke), Wednesday, 25 May 2011 18:52 (fourteen years ago)

This mix is fucking storming, it gets to the point so quickly and then just stays there.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 15 June 2011 17:18 (fourteen years ago)

it's okay
