Both named after nasty footballers, but which one is shittest?

free internet access in my pub. this is fatal - 3 pints of stella and i'm all over the www like a cheap suit...

haven't heard rooney but keane, don't get me started. 'oh wimpathy, where have you gone?' fox ache.

how normal can these post-clayplod bands be? it's almost like a competition to see who can release the most bland homogenous cheap emotional patriotism there is.

Rooney is named after a nasty footballer? No they're not....they're Californians. I believe they're named after Mickey.

More teams with footballers' names.

Sick Nouthall (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 17:57 (twenty-one years ago)

They're named after footballers? Really? I think I may actually hate them even more. Why the fuck would you ever name your band after a FOOTBALLER?

The Lex (The Lex), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 17:59 (twenty-one years ago)

I always thought that Stoichkov would be a good name for an electronica duo.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 18:22 (twenty-one years ago)

NB: I don't know the names of any footballers apart from... er... Beckham. Which would be a silly name for a band.

i heard a keane song for the first time yesterday and enjoyed it. i liked the weediness of it. does this make me a silly billy?

rooney? never heard them...

The only good thing about Keane is the name, and at that, only if they actually named themselves after the footballer. Which, judged on their music, they did not. They could use his agression....

David Nolan (David N.), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 23:34 (twenty-one years ago)

i had that new Keane song in my head all day the other week which was sort of annoying but sometimes i find i need a crap song in my head to get me thru a tight spot go figure

Rooney, Keane, Salako, Saint Etienne, Kaiser Chiefs, Hearts of Oak, George Best...

This should be another thread, really.

I think he meant the (very good) Ted Leo album from last year.

Some tweepop American band have a song called Kasey Keller - this made me beam

DJ Mencap (DJ Mencap), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 09:17 (twenty-one years ago)
