That happened only a few minutes walk from where I am sitting.
The more I tell myself that, the cooler I feel.

from the El Mocambo or from the hotel?

From the El Mo.
When he was a bachelor, Trudeau was something of a rock star too (for a politician). The girls all wanted him, or so I've been told.

Trudeau sure was a rock star. The first real Canadian rock star would be a politician.. Was he our Elvis, maybe? hm.

Can someone please explain this to those of us who are not Canadian enough to understand what the hell, etc etc...?

Explain what - the sex appeal of Trudeau, or the Margaret Sinclair saga?

I love that this thread is getting more attention than the Maggie Thatcher one.
Oh, and the Stones story in a nutshell : Margaret and Pierre were having marital difficulties, so she ran off to Toronto and ended up at a Rolling Stones gig, which is semi-legendary due to a) being a secret gig in a tiny club, and b) her surprise appearance when she was supposed to be with the guy running the country. After the gig, she partied with the Stones too (she was way younger than the PM, probably late 20's/early 30's when this incident took place).

I may not have all the facts straight but this is the general idea.

That infamous trip to Toronto also involved Keith Richards' arrest on drug possession.

Rolling Stone story here. (Maggie mentioned further down)
