sounds like xiu xiu, sans electronics, more cabaret stylee.

cutty (mcutt), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 11:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Ye. They can be best described as a mix between the stone roses and Pet Sounds-era beach boys, with a hip-hop edge that can't be denied!

kattt, Wednesday, 5 May 2004 11:14 (twenty-one years ago)

i'll deny it.

cutty (mcutt), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 11:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh you silly children... "xiu xiu, beach boys, stone roses, hip hop, electronic." The Xiu Xiu comparision is barely in the vicinity.

It sounds exactly like a cross between mid-period Beefheart crossed with Blood Sweat & Tears.

GET TO THA' (PRICE) CHOPPA!!!!!!!! ROFFLE!!!!!!!! (ex machina), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 12:41 (twenty-one years ago)

A noise band that sings songs about being gay?

webcrack (music=crack), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 15:08 (twenty-one years ago)

sounds like xiu xiu, sans electronics, more cabaret stylee.

That's just the deterrant I needed, thanks.

Really incredibly bad opening for and supporting Destroyer last night in Chicago. Woeful.

gusbot (eternal_fields), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 15:34 (twenty-one years ago)

sure it would be a deterant if it were true. the xiu xiu comparison is weak at best. think more like nick cave, etc for vocal dramatics.

jack cole (jackcole), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 15:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Well Cutty,
Ebay is a place where people auction of what they don't want/need anymore. It's very useful and sometimes fun. I buy records there all the time. They have EVERYTHING.

Bid On.

ddb, Wednesday, 5 May 2004 15:51 (twenty-one years ago)

explain what? muze or ebay? well, muze is a database of CDs and stuff that sites and record stores use and ebay is this little internet site where people auction their crap off on daily.

jack cole (jackcole), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 15:52 (twenty-one years ago)

damn you ddb for hitting my joke first!

jack cole (jackcole), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 15:52 (twenty-one years ago)

i am not defending the band

i am replying to jack stating the xiu xiu comparison is "weak at best"

someone else thought it sounded like xiu xiu, so maybe its a little less weak, eyy

cutty (mcutt), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 15:53 (twenty-one years ago)

i didn't even read the muze thing, just the title

jesus christ, does anyone has a fucking sense of humor anymore?

cutty (mcutt), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 15:54 (twenty-one years ago)

also please note "ha" following ebay link.

or should i have including a raggett emoticon?

cutty (mcutt), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 15:56 (twenty-one years ago)

dig that hole

ddb, Wednesday, 5 May 2004 15:56 (twenty-one years ago)

The Breakfast Club vs. The Seven Faces of Dr. Lao

jack cole (jackcole), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 15:59 (twenty-one years ago)

unlistenable. I hate Xiu Xiu and I find them more listenable than Frog Eyes. Comparing them to Beefheart and BS&T is an insult to both.

southern lights (southern lights), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 16:27 (twenty-one years ago)

i hear they're supporting Don Giarnelle on one of his 2 SF dates later this month

yumyum, Wednesday, 5 May 2004 17:09 (twenty-one years ago)

I've never seen them, but a friend considers them some sort of horrible ruinous curse, as they happen to open up for so many of his fave. bands. He's a Destroyer fan, so they news that Frog Eyes would be backing Bejar on this tour was especially depressing.

Apparently, they're always drunk and obnoxious to the point of never finishing songs that are shaky to begin with, and the sets end up as a big inside joke for their friends. So I hear, at least.

derrick (derrick), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 17:56 (twenty-one years ago)

I agree with derrick's friend. Last night, when they "supported" Destroyer, I had to fight the urge to hurl an empty pint glass at the singer/guitarist, so confused about his role was he.

They ruined all of Destroyer's songs. A really terrible band.

TS: Frog Eyes vs. Wolf Eyes

cutty (mcutt), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 18:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Do you guys like THE GET HUSTLE?

GET TO THA' (PRICE) CHOPPA!!!!!!!! ROFFLE!!!!!!!! (ex machina), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 19:51 (twenty-one years ago)

they had some okay bits but played too long.

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 19:52 (twenty-one years ago)

I liked the Get Hustle. I saw them at the Pic with Young People and Radio Berlin opening.. short set, but still a neat band. I think I preferred Young People.

derrick (derrick), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 20:48 (twenty-one years ago)

I like Young People but still have neglected to listen to their CD.

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 20:49 (twenty-one years ago)

for god's sake I was kidding. Frog Eyes is just noise. Horrible NOISE.

katttt, Thursday, 6 May 2004 07:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Frog Eyes sings like a demo I got sent of a transvestite doing a euro-house cover of 'Wuthering Heights'. Having said that I like Frog Eyes. I find him entertaining.

pitwithspikes (pitwithspikes), Thursday, 6 May 2004 09:16 (twenty-one years ago)
