hendrix plays sly stone

not really a question im asking, more something i just noticed. in the intro to we gotta live together on band of gypsys (which, while im here, is no way the piece of shoddy contractual-bye bye so many decrepit rock crits have made it out to be), hendrix goes into several bars of the guitar line from sly stones sing a simple song. he plays it quite brilliantly too.

It's not identical, but yeah, it's really close and possibly a nod to Sly. Remember, this was when Hendrix was (self-)consciously trying to attract a blacker audience. And another variation on the same riff was played by John McLaughlin throughout Miles Davis' Jack Johnson soundtrack.
