One has sex with lots of young girls. The other is the lead singer of The Charlatans.

Which one is more worthwhile?

I'm going for Tim on account of his delightful rendition of "The Only One I Know" and the "Telling Stories" album.

CRW (CRW), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 21:02 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm beginning to think the rest of these Taking Sides threads miss the point. Am I the only one doing these properly?

CRW (CRW), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 21:56 (twenty-one years ago)

I miss Dave Q already.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 21:57 (twenty-one years ago)

I miss Greg Valentine already.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 21:58 (twenty-one years ago)

I say you bring him back.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 21:58 (twenty-one years ago)

I know which of the two I'd WANT to be.

uh (eetface), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 21:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Shut it Ned you geek ass. Go out and do something you fecking moron. You're in LA. Isn't there SOMEONE to hang around with?

CRW (CRW), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 21:59 (twenty-one years ago)

is LA really that great?

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 22:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh yes. It's really that great.

CRW (CRW), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 22:01 (twenty-one years ago)

(At least I had fun).

CRW (CRW), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 22:02 (twenty-one years ago)

This CRW chap seems to be a rather controversial character. i can't really be bothered finding out what his basic persona is, so can someone fill me in on the basic jist about him in as nice or as nasty terms as they see fit...

Robbie Lumsden (Wallace Stevens HQ), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 22:03 (twenty-one years ago)

And this is a VS. thread hi-jacked by Ned. Is anyone going to actually make a valid point as an answer to a valid question?

CRW (CRW), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 22:04 (twenty-one years ago)

In 1972 a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire CRW.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 22:05 (twenty-one years ago)

oh Hugh Hefner.

cause he wasn't in the charlatans.

also I do like that in the first issue of playboy his editorial said that it was designed for men who liked to take a lady home, slip on some jazz and discuss "picasso, sex, nietzsche"...

smooth intellisharking bastard.

Robbie Lumsden (Wallace Stevens HQ), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 22:06 (twenty-one years ago)

he likes "cult" films and he lives in edinburgh and he likes a lot of "indie" music like sleeper and suede and, I dunno, placebo? and he likes sleeper because he likes louise wener, too. and he likes emma bunton because he likes emma bunton. and he isn't a misogynist even though, sometimes, it might seem like he is and he deplores people who he identifies as misogynists even if, most of the time, they don't seem like it. he doesn't like porn but, wait, does he like porn? I'm sure he values his own "wit". huh. there is photo of him, somewhere, I think he has a middle parting and a pale complexion and a fat friend with a beard. he likes to "challenge" people, here, in a similar way to momus but yawn etc. I think he's just bored, a lot of the time, and there's nothing wrong with that.

will you come out for a drink, with us, the next time he's in glasgow, lumsden?

crossposts

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 22:09 (twenty-one years ago)

i am generally always available for drinks in glasgow...

Robbie Lumsden (Wallace Stevens HQ), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 22:11 (twenty-one years ago)

excellent.

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 22:12 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't live in Edinburgh, and I intend to come out with RGB for a beer sometime. I'm friendly and I think Ned has good music taste, but really should accept kind invitations to socialise with strangers, no matter how eclectic they may seem.

I post here on and off - my posts are more frequent when I'm writing and need to break the monotomy.

I am actually a black rap star from New England going under a well devised pseudonym.

CRW (CRW), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 22:16 (twenty-one years ago)

there's no shame in living in edinburgh....

Robbie Lumsden (Wallace Stevens HQ), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 22:18 (twenty-one years ago)

maybe he lives in stirling.

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 22:20 (twenty-one years ago)

falkirk?

harthill?

balerno?

Robbie Lumsden (Wallace Stevens HQ), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 22:22 (twenty-one years ago)

SHOTTS

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 22:23 (twenty-one years ago)

how come CRW is never funny?

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 22:24 (twenty-one years ago)

are ringing all along the border

i'd move to stepps. then you can always say "I'm going back to stepps" and make jokes about the popgroup.

it'd be wonderful!

XPOST

Robbie Lumsden (Wallace Stevens HQ), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 22:25 (twenty-one years ago)

I am so funny!

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 22:34 (twenty-one years ago)

CRW's jokes: C/D?

Robbie Lumsden (Wallace Stevens HQ), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 22:36 (twenty-one years ago)

well at this stage, their dudness has reached "classic" status.
they are the the acme, the pinnacle of dudness on this forum.

..., Wednesday, 5 May 2004 22:48 (twenty-one years ago)

so it's a classic dud, if not a dud classic, like a cliché that becomes fresh just by being used so often...

Robbie Lumsden (Wallace Stevens HQ), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 22:51 (twenty-one years ago)

So who wins? Burgess or Hef?

CRW (CRW), Thursday, 6 May 2004 00:22 (twenty-one years ago)

burgess is gonk.

hefner isn't, really.

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 6 May 2004 00:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Burgess is the

Patrick Kinghorn, Thursday, 6 May 2004 00:26 (twenty-one years ago)

calum stop potsing ts threads. they are boring.
post more "who would win a fihgt" thraeds instaed. they are funny.
also stop trying to modreate your threads. for you hav ethe authority of a very little animal, or a pebble, or a ver ylitle animal that resembles a pebble, or a turd.

:|, Thursday, 6 May 2004 01:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha.

I see no reason why anyone should feel obliged to meet someone, just because they are "in town".

I don't give a fuck about hugh hefner or tim burgess.

Calum you have a TERRIBLE SOH.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Thursday, 6 May 2004 11:55 (twenty-one years ago)

They are not obliged at all Normy, however should someone not even have the grace to respond but CONTINUE to dog posts by that person on a public internet forum... well, I consider that (as I've pointed out many times) the action of a (insert insult here). If Ned ignores my threads and posts then I don't see a problem with him not responding to a friendly invite for a pint, but he doesn't, and that does not sit well with me.

CRW (CRW), Thursday, 6 May 2004 12:14 (twenty-one years ago)

P.S. Does your wife like Hef Norm? He's got lots of money.

CRW (CRW), Thursday, 6 May 2004 12:15 (twenty-one years ago)

My wife likes me, and I have very nearly no money at all.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Thursday, 6 May 2004 12:18 (twenty-one years ago)

What's the point of this question? Why not Tim Burgess vs a park bench?

Mr Mime (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 6 May 2004 12:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Elias Canetti's 'Auto Da Fe' vs a halfempty can of beer? Etc

Mr Mime (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 6 May 2004 12:31 (twenty-one years ago)

there is no real point responding seriously to your 'questions' crw, which you realise of course (to not would mean you must be sorely retarded, i wouldn't go that far personally). likewise there is no real point you posting them in the first place - they sometimes work out mildly amusing due to derailment and the usual meta-bullshit but most of us can take that or leave that i suspect. why did you start doing this again anyway after that brief hiatus? just boredom/frustration as before?

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 6 May 2004 12:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Poor old CRW. just for being a witless fanny he becomes a social leper.

dear dear.

Robbie Lumsden (Wallace Stevens HQ), Thursday, 6 May 2004 12:40 (twenty-one years ago)

yes, yes. you will still come for a drink, won't you?

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 6 May 2004 12:55 (twenty-one years ago)

bien sur

Robbie Lumsden (Wallace Stevens HQ), Thursday, 6 May 2004 13:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Well I'm not coming - Robbie's got no sense of humour and probably smells like goat wee. Sorry mate.

CRW (CRW), Thursday, 6 May 2004 15:43 (twenty-one years ago)

And why is this not a valid taking sides? Hef has actually promoted a lot of blues and jazz which one suspects Mr Burgess is currently influenced by (more's the pity cos their Manchester era was the best, or maybe their Britpop turn in 1996, that was fab).

CRW (CRW), Thursday, 6 May 2004 15:44 (twenty-one years ago)

c'mon, c-man, I've met robbie and he isn't all that bad--remember: this is on the internet.

I will send you an e-mail, before, say, june. will you be through any time during the last week of may?

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 6 May 2004 15:48 (twenty-one years ago)

I might have an hour to spare next week, as I'll be passing through Glasgow. Otherwise, it might well be late May or June, not sure. I'm sure Robbie's fine.

CRW (CRW), Thursday, 6 May 2004 16:09 (twenty-one years ago)

I am (or should be) really busy up until the 17th and kinda busy, after, but not too busy. the 18th/19th/20th/a couple of weeks later would be fine, for a pint.

I WILL SEND YOU AN E-MAIL, REALLY

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 6 May 2004 16:13 (twenty-one years ago)

who takes witless fanny as an insult?

Robbie Lumsden (Wallace Stevens HQ), Thursday, 6 May 2004 17:39 (twenty-one years ago)

It's slightly better than funny fanny, but without the all important alliteration.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Thursday, 6 May 2004 22:34 (twenty-one years ago)

So did we conclude who wins this?

CRW (CRW), Friday, 7 May 2004 12:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Greg Evigan. He is teh winner.

..., Friday, 7 May 2004 12:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Greg Evigan did great work in My Two Dads but comes a poor second to silver screen legend Bradford Dillman.

holojames (holojames), Friday, 7 May 2004 13:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Greg Evigan's best work was on When Insects Attack

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 May 2004 13:22 (twenty-one years ago)

His work is good, but he is a winner in life.

..., Friday, 7 May 2004 13:25 (twenty-one years ago)

I fear you're not treating this with the seriousness it deserves.

CRW (CRW), Friday, 7 May 2004 13:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Am I too late to say Ivor Cutler again?

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 7 May 2004 13:54 (twenty-one years ago)

'I fear you're not treating this with the seriousness it deserves.'

Is that what you say to your girlfriend?

..., Friday, 7 May 2004 14:00 (twenty-one years ago)

there are no black people in New England, fool (except for the greater Boston area, obv)

Morley Timmons (Donna Brown), Friday, 7 May 2004 14:12 (twenty-one years ago)
