Moi!

Hey all!

New here too, so thought I'd say my hello's as it looks like a nice place to be! - I'm a bit of an old skool indie kid from England but now living in the Netherlands - Stone Roses, Smiths, Wedding Present, Saint Etienne, Pixies, Sugarcubes, Pavement, et al, are probably the most common bands I like - but I did venture a bit more into the lesser known quarters - Dylans *cough*, Salad, Gene, Carter USM (I'm sorry), Echobelly, These Animal Men, S*M*A*S*H all found their way into my CD collection!

Problem with living out in clogland now is that I'm fairly clueless with the bands coming through - hell the Yeah yeah yeahs were pretty much screaming at me before I heard them!, likewise the Libertines - so I guess I'll hopefully be getting the heads up about the new bands around, and hopefully getting info on those dearly departed - just made a post about the drop nineteens :( I miss them.

Hope to get to know you all!

Hi Dean....welcome (if I may speak for the rest of the pabulum-addicted rabble for just this once).

I was a massive fan of The Wedding Present. Shame about Cinerama, though.

Carter USM (I'm sorry)

Haha, board founder Tom Ewing is well known around these parts as a Carter worshipper still. You'll fit in fine, welcome!

Has anything post-1994 made its way into your music collection?
Ha, you don't have to answer that. Unless you want to. Welcome.

Heh thanks guys - not really Barry!!, Libertines, Yeah yeah yeahs, Interpol and Franz Ferdinand have just started to fill that huge gap - but mid 90's to now(ish) not much has really stood out for me!

And stevem - I landed on these shores for work, I came to work at the Space Agency here - you know how it is, I think every 6 year old wanted to be an astronaut, and I made it to a Support Analyst at a ESA, closer than most people get!

Cheers

hi Dean, I'm from NL and living there still. Nice to see a thread starting with "Moi!", though I thought it was likely to involve an egomaniac French guy trying to get some attention :)

anyway: welkom. gezellig! :)
[have you met Andre Kuipers yet?]

willem (willem), Thursday, 6 May 2004 11:47 (twenty-one years ago)

About Andre Kuipers, nope - I *think* I saw him once but not 100% sure, it was some astronaut or other. I worked in the Science area, so it was all the rocket scientist bodies there. Worrying when you see the amount of Dilbert cartoon strips on the wall with some joke about it not being rocket scientist.
