nice big bumping shuffle beat, and a nice stompy bassline then a vocal which goes "one day you'll return to, the warmth of leaving home" over and over.

It's in a Tobias Thomas/Superpitcher Live@Kamera mix I have.

Ronan (Ronan), Thursday, 6 May 2004 13:10 (twenty-one years ago)

International Snootleg by Losoul/International Pony. It's on the second Schaffelfieber comp.

...and Famous When Dead III

Fantasy Burrito (Andy K), Thursday, 6 May 2004 13:26 (twenty-one years ago)

andy you are a golden god.

mark p (Mark P), Thursday, 6 May 2004 13:27 (twenty-one years ago)

excellent!

Ronan (Ronan), Thursday, 6 May 2004 13:35 (twenty-one years ago)

thank you Andy!

Ronan (Ronan), Thursday, 6 May 2004 13:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Actually, that's probably International Pony's Leaving Home -- 'cause I'm not hearing any of the Losoul bits that are in the International Snootleg version.

Fantasy Burrito (Andy K), Thursday, 6 May 2004 13:45 (twenty-one years ago)

The above mix is ace by the way, I got it off Nick K, very clubby.

Ronan (Ronan), Thursday, 6 May 2004 13:47 (twenty-one years ago)

this really isn't a microhouse tune <pedant>

there's an great akufen remix of the original international pony that is however.

the bassline in this track is so bouncy and delicious

tricky disco, Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:48 (twenty-one years ago)

I guess it's not micro is it?

Ronan (Ronan), Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:53 (twenty-one years ago)

nah, it doesn't surprise me at all that you like it ronan. have you ever checked out the playhouse label? what's the date on this mix your talking about?

man, i really need to proofread my posts better...

tricky disco, Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:58 (twenty-one years ago)

been meaning to get the famous when dead comps for ages, I'll find them on a good speed eventually.

I'm familiar with some playhouse yeah, Captain Comatose and I'm sure a few other tracks by different people in the course of my general listening, mixes etc.

The mix is 14th of December 2003

Ronan (Ronan), Thursday, 6 May 2004 15:00 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm pretty psyched to hear the spektrum lp that just came out on playhouse. (it got reviewed in the wire of all places!)

tricky disco, Thursday, 6 May 2004 15:03 (twenty-one years ago)

I must check it yeah, I liked the Tiefschwarz remix of Kinda New (me and half the planet)

Ronan (Ronan), Thursday, 6 May 2004 15:05 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah i like that tune, too. tiefschwarz are really hit or miss with me though.

tricky disco, Thursday, 6 May 2004 15:14 (twenty-one years ago)

when it doesn't work it just seems kind of deep and humourless.

Ronan (Ronan), Thursday, 6 May 2004 15:15 (twenty-one years ago)

re original qn and just to be extra pedantic: is it the version of IP's "Leaving Home" that goes "like a woooooooooooo-ooo-ooolf" at one point? That's my favourite mix. Much better than the Schaffel version.

I just bought a Losoul LP on Playhouse. Will report back when I've had a chance to listen.

zebedee (zebedee), Thursday, 6 May 2004 15:18 (twenty-one years ago)

The Losoul album is wonderful. Spektrum's has its moments but goes on far too long.

Fantasy Burrito (Andy K), Thursday, 6 May 2004 15:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey, I review Playhouse in the Wire all the time! The Spektrum just stood out because it made the main reviews section (was it a full-pager?). In fact, I'd reviewed Spektrum for that very issue, but it got cut to accommodate the one that ran. Grrr.

A lot of the International Pony stuff is pretty brilliant, btw. Really cheeky pop with a lot of g-funk elements in there. Fair amount of filler tracks on the album, but a fair amount of gems as well. Remixes from Isolee/Justus Koehncke worth searching out as well.

philip sherburne (philip sherburne), Thursday, 6 May 2004 15:25 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm w/ andy re the losoul elpee - it's my fave album on pleayhouse ever

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Thursday, 6 May 2004 15:28 (twenty-one years ago)

is this a new losoul lp? if so, woohoo!

i'm pretty keen on both versions of 'leaving home'...

xpost

i know you review them phillip, but it was strange to see the spektrum review on page 1 of the album reviews. i can't remember the last time i saw a "dance album" get that kind of coverage in that mag.

tricky disco, Thursday, 6 May 2004 15:30 (twenty-one years ago)

yes, it was a full-pager, too

tricky disco, Thursday, 6 May 2004 15:38 (twenty-one years ago)

I thought it was a full-pager but for some reason didn't actually read that one. Will have to go back to it. Agreed that it was strange to see a full-pager, especially for that record which, as much as I love it, isn't really that "avant." (Actually I double-reviewed it with Tamion 12 Inch, which I rather prefer, even though it's more retro.)

philip sherburne (philip sherburne), Thursday, 6 May 2004 16:57 (twenty-one years ago)

ok another one, slow strings come in and a vocal goes "I'm sleeping and I'm dreaming of you again, wish that I could feel your warmth again, been so long since you've been gone, left my life, been so long since you've been gone, left my life, since you're gone"

then it goes into a typical kompakt bassline. the voice and singer sounds like phoenix??

Ronan (Ronan), Thursday, 6 May 2004 21:42 (twenty-one years ago)

anyone?

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 7 May 2004 12:14 (twenty-one years ago)

It rings a bell with me, but I've no idea so far. When did this come out, approximately?

JoB (JoB), Friday, 7 May 2004 13:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Quite a small bell, to be honest.

JoB (JoB), Friday, 7 May 2004 13:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Sono - "Since You're Gone"

Amusingly, you could have heard the International Pony Mix (back to them again).

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Friday, 7 May 2004 15:41 (twenty-one years ago)

eight months pass...
OK, I have titles but I don't know who did them: found two tracks in my iTunes, both downloaded on 25 Feb 2003, called "4-4-4" and "4-4 6th". Any ideas?
