Cope has put up the soon-to-be-released on Sub Pop Comets on Fire album, Blue Cathedral, as his album of the month at Head Heritage. It's the first time for an unreleased album to occupy that spot. I'm listening to the first track now and it sounds ferocius. His review says absolutely nothing about the album, but he does mention a bootleg called "Bong Voyage" that I must hear.
Going to see Six Organs of Admittance in Kansas City, tonight, too. This week has seen a lot of strange synchronicities for me.

Mmm, new Comets on Fire. That'll be one to look for. :-)

I'm still pissed I missed them last summer.

The song "Death Squad" sounds great on this. I remember it as the show closer when they played in my town last summer (I think, at least). I guess this will just get a cd release, I think it's too long to fit on an lp.

three weeks pass...
cutty so OTM about track two being an asskicker. really did a good job at slowing things down sometimes on this one, and not letting the rawk tunes degenerate into squiggly nonsense; more riffz, more use of acoustic geetar & organ. amazing. sub pop has known how to pick 'em, lately.

Ian c=====8 (orion), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 23:28 (twenty-one years ago)

well, meaning Wolfize and Comets on Fire. There's still a helluva lotta chum (Thermals?)

roger adultery (roger adultery), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 23:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Damn it. Apparently Sub Pop gave a bunch of indie record stores bonus CDs to give away with a bunch of unreleased and live stuff. At least they gave some to Sea Level Records.... so buy it there!

Softly Weeping at the Oki Dog (Ben Boyer), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 23:57 (twenty-one years ago)

aw nuts. i want exxxtra stuffz.

and yeah, i guess subpop does still suck. but they're better than they've been in aaaages.
