sad news....

_________________________________________________________________

Silver Planet wishes to pay tribute to a great artist, producer, DJ and owner of the successful 1990's label Rising High - a true character, unique in every way. Caspar Pound passed away last Friday at his home. Only 33, his life was cut short by a cancerous tumour on the brain.

Friends, lovers, acquaintances, even rivals and others will undoubtedly remember him fondly for the person that he was - rude but wonderful. One could not help but love him.

Caspar will continue to live through his music and in the hearts of people who were lucky enough to know him.

May he rest in peace.

rising high was such a great label for a long time. He surely lit up my life a few times through his work.

it's sounds sort of weird to bring it up right now but the "chill out or die..." series ruled my world for a few years. and i was just listening to "further self evident truths 3" this morning.

:_(

Rising High is still the first thing to pop in my mind when I think of trance music (so I'm showing my age a bit there). It's a sad day.

So sad. I collected ALL of the "Secret Life of Trance" series and many of his tracks were staples of my DJ sets. I saw him DJ once an although he didn't really have proper "skillz", he played top tunes.

RIP indeed.

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Friday, 7 May 2004 08:23 (twenty-one years ago)

wow, that's really really sad, rising high was kinda my gateway label to dance music proper.

i'm gonna do a rising high pix thread, yeah??

nebbesh (nebbesh), Friday, 7 May 2004 14:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Gosh, I was wondering what prompted the Rising High thread. RIP indeed. I was more on the Irresistible Force/Luke Vibert tip I guess but those early CDs of theirs are still grand.
