I remember hearing "Cars" on the radio. I'm assuming this was when I was 4 or 5, several years after the song's initial radio appearance.

All of the earliest music I remember was on television: the Jackson 5 + Osmonds cartoons, Bay City Rollers "Shang-A-Lang", Monkees repeats etc. I also have painful memories of UK novelty pop from 1974-76 {Wombles, Goodies, Wurzels). First record heard was "Rupert the Bear" by Jackie Lee.

It's all a blur of the Stevie Wonder and Village People (seriously) concerts my parents took me to and vinyl at home like Phantom of the Opera and Beethoven's 5th.

Come to think of it, after those two records + the Ghostbusters soundtrack, that's all the music that was ever available to me at home as a kid.
