Please feel free to rubbish my favorite 3 albums of all time (well at the moment, at least).
1. Van Morrison-Astral Weeks
2. Cocteau Twins-Treasure
3. tricky-Maxinquaye

Dont hold Back.

Maxinquaye cannot be faulted. i haven't heard the other two but i'm sure 'Treasure' is fantastic also.

i haven't listened to treasure in years

Haven't heard any of these. Just thought I'd take up space on the board while I'm here at work. Ignore me. Yep.

Yeppers.

Uh-huh.

Bye.

I wouldn't even scrape dog feces off my shoe with a copy of Astral Weeks, but the other two are complete keepers.

I love Maxinquaye. My frustration with Tricky today is inversely proportional to how awesome that record is.

Treasure is the weakest of the 3, despite having some of their greatest peaks.

when it was released, as a huge fan of Garlands and Head Over Heels, I gave it a full-attention headphones christening:

"Ivo" started things off great, but then it wasn't until the gorgeous "Pandora" that I felt like they'd kept up the standard. many fans often cite "Persephone" & "Lorelei" (which I reckon gets its scat-a-long end idea from my 2nd fave Scott Walker song "The World's Strongest Man") as faves, but not for me...

Side 2 is more consistent, with only "Donimo" letting the side down (sorry:) - one of their weaker end tracks (nowhere near a match for "Musette & Drums"!). "Aloysius" is sun-blissed delicious and "Otterley" is the best thing they ever did ("Feet-Like Fins" ORIGINAL! comes close).

still, I commend you on your Top 3 !

I've never listened to Astral Weeks all the way through, but I figure there's a good reason Van Morrison albums (that one being the exception, apparently) are greeted with global indifference.

I wouldn't listen to Cocteau Twins on a dare.

Maxinquaye is mildly diverting, but the only Tricky album anybody really needs is Pre-Millennium Tension, which is fucking genius from first note to last. (Yes, even "Ghetto Youth." Especially "Ghetto Youth.")

Maxinquaye cannot be faulted.

it IS one of the greatest records ever but it can be faulted - "you don't" is no good.

first person i've ever encountered who prefers PMT to Maxinquaye (i like both)

You're absolutely stoned out of your mind. "You Don't" is my favorite track on the album.

you're a mentalist.

You're a name-caller.

Astral Weeks is very good visionary weirdness made by a guy who was like 21 years old or something, but it's also depressing.

"You Don't" is a personal fave also

& "Suffocated Love" alone would be enough to justify Maxinquaye
probably the biggest imbalance of tracklove I have on any classic album
that is - "Suffocated Love" is responsible for maybe 60% of my high rating for Maxinquaye
(yet I still find it a more consistent listen than Treasure)
