She is very pretty.

Not quite the same as anticipating A Grand Don't Come For Free, is it?

Marcello Carlin, Friday, 7 May 2004 11:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Am I alone in thinking that I would have preferred Rachel Goswell's first solo outing to be called Kool Booty Ruttin'?

Marcello Carlin, Friday, 7 May 2004 11:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Uh, that's a really hot photo.

She looks a lot like Terre Thaemlitz.

Is there any info on an actual album getting released? Or is this just a chance for us to ogle her picture while listening to "Machine Gun"?

Barry Bruner (Barry Bruner), Friday, 7 May 2004 19:54 (twenty-one years ago)

it comes out in the usa in june.

yep, and a UK EP before that, in late may, maybe?

It was recorded last year, before most of Spoon and Rafter was done. I haven't heard anything about collaborators or sound, so it's anyone's guess.

I LOVED her song on Excuses for Travellers, 'Bringin' Me Home'. Were any Slowdive songs attributed to her alone?

derrick (derrick), Friday, 7 May 2004 23:08 (twenty-one years ago)

a whole album like 'bringin' me home' would be fantastic. she says it is folky.

the album has leaked to slsk finally. I like it; it's very pretty, definitely, but also quite conventional. A few songs could easily be light pop singles. It's a lot less delicate than I'd expected, I think. There's none of the Slowdive guitar crush, but some uptempo guitar stuff ('Coastline'). For the most part, though, quite lovely, but not stunning.

one month passes...
OK this is now officially out. Still haven't seen anywhere.
From Derrick's description, it sounds like MOR Mojave 3 fare. Why not.

Baaderoni (Fabfunk), Friday, 25 June 2004 14:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Mojave 3 wasn't MOR?

Chris Ott (Chris Ott), Friday, 25 June 2004 14:40 (twenty-one years ago)
