A friend and I are getting together for an annual event where we play back our top ten records from a given year (determined by choosing numbers from a hat). Anyway, the year I chose is 1980. Coming up with obvious choices — Remain In Light, Second Edition, Entertainment, Closer, Crazy Rhythms, etc.) is easy enough, but I am looking for some hidden gems.

Nice call, I only discovered this last year! Excellent sub-Devo electro-punk.

Gerald McBoing-Boing, Friday, 11 August 2017 22:46 (eight years ago)

Yes! The opening track "High Pressure Days" is so immense it's hard to believe it's nearly 40 years old. Wasn't quite sure whether to nominate the whole album (which is p. fun, don't get me wrong) or just that track. Speaking of which, some tracks, off the top of my head and trying to avoid anything already mentioned...

Kano "I'm Ready"
Family Fodder "Savoir Faire"
