From: Katie
Date: Mar 11, 2004 08:49 PM
Subject: Franz Ferdinand!! (soo rockin!)
Body: Ok, so my good friend turned me onto this new band Franz Ferdinand. And may I say... freakin' AWESOME!! It has been so long since I heard songs sooo good and sooo rockin' that I have to blast it and actually jump around and dance and shake my booty! Seriously, this band rocks, and I mean that cool old fashioned funk edgey raw type of rock, with the catchiest hooks, but pure music all the way thru. An album that will make your head bop and foot tap involuntarily, for sure. Everyone should run out and buy it NOW!! You will NOT be dissappointed!

GET TO THA' (PRICE) CHOPPA!!!!!!!! ROFFLE!!!!!!!! (ex machina), Friday, 7 May 2004 22:23 (twenty-one years ago)

i have it!

CAss (CAss), Friday, 7 May 2004 22:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Eureka!

stephen morris (stephen morris), Friday, 7 May 2004 22:32 (twenty-one years ago)

NME over-exposed Franz before their album even came out in the States. Also, The Libertines?! That's way 2003.

deanomgwtf!!!p%3Fmsgid%3D4581997 (deangulberry), Friday, 7 May 2004 22:41 (twenty-one years ago)

People still read the NME?

Patrick Kinghorn, Friday, 7 May 2004 22:45 (twenty-one years ago)

We American scum don't really read NME, but our equivalents made me want to kill the White stripes. And if see one more grocery store mag with the vines on the cover I'm gonna burn the whole Safeway down. Yes, Spin still hypes the stupid Vines. And they thought the new Courtney Love was good. HaHaHaHaHa.

AaronHz (AaronHz), Friday, 7 May 2004 22:49 (twenty-one years ago)

i still read it every week. i actually enjoy the OTT-ness of it.

and they havent ruined the libertines for me yet. dont ask me why. i still really like them.

but what with the new album due, that pathetic made up quote in that cover story they did a little while back from 'katy, 18, working class, totally fictional' on the band, im starting to hate the libs for no reason at all.

i agree, the streets are next to become annoying courtesy of NME.

thesplooge (thesplooge), Friday, 7 May 2004 22:49 (twenty-one years ago)

I was at a shitty record store that had some magazine with Sum 41 on the cover. YESTERDAY

GET TO THA' (PRICE) CHOPPA!!!!!!!! ROFFLE!!!!!!!! (ex machina), Friday, 7 May 2004 22:52 (twenty-one years ago)

DON'T CALL IT A COMEBACK.

stephen morris (stephen morris), Friday, 7 May 2004 22:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha, you silly Brits being annoyed by rock bands instead of Ashton Kutcher

Nate in ST.P (natedetritus), Friday, 7 May 2004 22:53 (twenty-one years ago)

NME has no power to make the Streets annoying, on account of how they are the greatest British Pop Group of the last 10 years. However, if anybody would like to mention the Libertines, my laughter muscles could do with a work-out.

noodle vague (noodle vague), Friday, 7 May 2004 22:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Noodle Vague, you are stupid!!!!

GET TO THA' (PRICE) CHOPPA!!!!!!!! ROFFLE!!!!!!!! (ex machina), Friday, 7 May 2004 22:57 (twenty-one years ago)

I think nme's neverending coverage of the crackrockdrama of the libertines kinda ruined it all for me.

PETE DOHERTY ROBS MATE'S FLAT
CARLOS LOVES PETE (BUT DOESNT PLAY WITH HIM)
PETE AND CARLOS MAKE UP
PETE STEALS CARLOS' LUNCH MONEY

bill stevens (bscrubbins), Friday, 7 May 2004 22:57 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't akshully hate El Libertinos, Roffle. It's just that my brutally clear memory of the last Clash tribute band prevents me from gettin all hype, tonight.

noodle vague (noodle vague), Friday, 7 May 2004 22:59 (twenty-one years ago)

one good thing about the NME is that at least they dont call the streets a 'band' or a 'rock n roll group' like the observer monthly music supplement.

thesplooge (thesplooge), Friday, 7 May 2004 22:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Damn straight, splooge. Fuck The Streets, with their tunes and their Re-invention of Pop. Revisionist Bastards.

noodle vague (noodle vague), Friday, 7 May 2004 23:01 (twenty-one years ago)

i empty a kettle all over you noodle. the streets is ONE person who doesnt make rock music.

thesplooge (thesplooge), Friday, 7 May 2004 23:04 (twenty-one years ago)

i can tell which band the NME is hyping without even reading it. ebay is the oracle

the 'surface' 'noise' (electricsound), Saturday, 8 May 2004 00:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Constantines

ken taylrr (ken taylrr), Saturday, 8 May 2004 02:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Pixies

*cries*

Crackity (Crackity Jones), Saturday, 8 May 2004 10:55 (twenty-one years ago)

let someone who actually reads it
tell you the answer to the original question :

remember its the *next* band right?
so that'll be the zutons.

piscesboy, Saturday, 8 May 2004 10:58 (twenty-one years ago)

i was bored of the zutons ages ago

the 'surface' 'noise' (electricsound), Saturday, 8 May 2004 11:12 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm getting bored of the earlies, even though i like them.. hype is a funny thing, and the nme isn't the only place that does it.

the 'surface' 'noise' (electricsound), Saturday, 8 May 2004 11:13 (twenty-one years ago)

NME IS the only magazine that does it. Here in America the only bands who get on the front covers of rolling stone and spin are band that've already made the Top Ten, so that doesn't really count as "hype."

Hey you stupid prats, sometimes they hype GOOD bands, you know!! They put Godspeed You Black Emperor on the cover before anybody had ever heard of them!!

Mr. Snrub (Mr. Snrub), Saturday, 8 May 2004 12:32 (twenty-one years ago)

I wonder if they will get/have gotten onto the Fiery Furnaces?

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Saturday, 8 May 2004 12:36 (twenty-one years ago)

My guess would be that the Fiery Furnaces are too complicated/good to be taken to heart by Nu-NME.

noodle vague (noodle vague), Saturday, 8 May 2004 12:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey you stupid prats, sometimes they hype GOOD bands, you know!! They put Godspeed You Black Emperor on the cover before anybody had ever heard of them!!

These two sentences don't really make sense next to each other.

adam (adam), Saturday, 8 May 2004 12:51 (twenty-one years ago)

good or bad, it's irrelevant. overexposure is bad no matter which way it's sliced. and i wasn't just talking about magazines. as much as i like the guy, doomie's ninety-fourth mention of the earlies has made me sick of them even before i could sing you one of their songs.

the 'surface' 'noise' (electricsound), Saturday, 8 May 2004 12:59 (twenty-one years ago)

People still read the NME?

stole the words from my mouth, ok so ive only known one guy who ever read this on a regular basis several years ago (i no longer know him or if he still reads) he used to say that arab strap was dance music and beck was hiphop.

half dread, Saturday, 8 May 2004 16:36 (twenty-one years ago)

These two sentences don't really make sense next to each other.

Quite.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 8 May 2004 16:40 (twenty-one years ago)

I can't find NME in Smiths these days.

jel -- (jel), Saturday, 8 May 2004 16:59 (twenty-one years ago)

I can't find Smiths in the NME these days.

noodle vague (noodle vague), Saturday, 8 May 2004 17:01 (twenty-one years ago)

five months pass...
who was right?

piscesboy, Thursday, 4 November 2004 17:57 (twenty years ago)

Haha, you silly Brits being annoyed by rock bands instead of Ashton Kutcher

This is the greatest, most on-the-money thing ever said on ILM.

Mr. Snrub, Friday, 5 November 2004 04:34 (twenty years ago)

i still like the earlies
