new hope sandoval album, any good?

Finally, a new album has been announced. Through The Devil Softly due out Sept. 1.

Cool. I've been listening to the first Mazzy Star and a few tracks off of Bavarian Fruit Bread (On the Low, Suzanne) a lot recently.

Me too. I was in a cave until 1998 so I didn't get around to listening to Mazzy Star until a few weeks ago. I like it, but yeah, I like Bavarian Fruit Bread just as much.

I've been waiting forever for a new Hope Sandoval album. Will it feature the all star line up on the first solo album? Can't wait to hear it.

I've listened to Through The Devil Softly once through, and it's sublime. Not much has changed, but I wasn't wanting a changed. She can keep making dreamy soft music like this. Maybe this album is the folkiest?

'Thinking Like That' has to be my favorite song, sounds like Comus.

Who sang like Hope Sandoval before Hope Sandoval? Cos there sure are a lot of people who sing like her now.

I haven't heard the new album yet but the single with Massive Attack is wonderful

Heard the track with Kurt Vile and I prefer Hope without a vocal companion. Music sounded good though.

The new album is so good!

It is good in inverse proportion to the extent that it sounds like the Doors. Listening to it a lot, skipping some tracks regularly.

i like the ep, her voice is still as sexy as ever. i didn't like the last album though which had the effect of a sleeping pill on me. somehow an ep seems to be the right form for her music as a complete album is too long as usually there is not enough variation in between the songs, i find.

“Bavarian Fruit Bread” is one of the most perfect albums ever made if you’re in the mood for it.

Also better than any Mazzy Star or Hope Sandoval solo album by a wide margin.

i was once nurturing a zesty opinion that her second solo LP was better than BFB and all the Mazzy Star LPs, I will need to revisit to see if this feeling even remotely holds up

also saw her live touring that LP and it was an all-time great and beautiful show, which felt at odds with the general reception for her post-Mazzy Star tours (i saw Mazzy Star back in 1994 and they were also great and beautiful)
