s1ocki (slutsky), Saturday, 8 May 2004 05:08 (twenty-one years ago)

No one should care, Unless your name is Puff Avril Williams Bizkit

Sasha (sgh), Saturday, 8 May 2004 05:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Someone should check Alex in NYC and see if he's okay.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 8 May 2004 05:13 (twenty-one years ago)

time to whip out your "official nards inspector" t-shirt, ned!

s1ocki (slutsky), Saturday, 8 May 2004 05:14 (twenty-one years ago)

LOL Ned.

(x-post)

stevo (stevo), Saturday, 8 May 2004 05:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Why Ned? If Avril kicks a guy in the nads in one town, does Alex feel it in NYC? Are they symbiotic twins?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Saturday, 8 May 2004 05:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh hang on, I just got it. I'm a bit slow.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Saturday, 8 May 2004 05:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Her mom, Judy Lavigne, was just on Letterman, by the way. Judy kicked nobody in the nardz.

But Carson Daly's mom did. She kicked Biff in the nardz and then Biff nutted blood on Jay Leno. Then Conan's mom exploded.

Famous Athlete, Saturday, 8 May 2004 06:09 (twenty-one years ago)

by kicking the dude in the nards, she did her most punk rock thing ever. that guy, i probably know him, he sucks. avril rules.

huck, Saturday, 8 May 2004 07:01 (twenty-one years ago)

p.s. i hate her music.

huck, Saturday, 8 May 2004 07:01 (twenty-one years ago)

avril DID ruin punk. and the only reason she probably kicked him was because she also knows that she is not punk but hates to admit it.

CAss (CAss), Saturday, 8 May 2004 09:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Avril ruined punk by putting bagpipe solos on every existing copy of Never Mind the Bollocks...

She is currently planning to reform The Clash with Sean Lennon replacing Strummer.

noodle vague (noodle vague), Saturday, 8 May 2004 09:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Thus saving punk because Joe Strummer ruined it.

Jacob (Jacob), Saturday, 8 May 2004 10:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Checkmate, Jacob.

noodle vague (noodle vague), Saturday, 8 May 2004 10:54 (twenty-one years ago)

The fuck is a "nard", people?

So, was she ejected from the establishment, or was the the accusatory kickee ejected?

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 8 May 2004 11:12 (twenty-one years ago)

What's wrong wih a good old British "nad".
"Nard" sounds a bit Canadian.

de, Saturday, 8 May 2004 11:50 (twenty-one years ago)

She never ruined punk because she had nothing to do with it in the first place.

latebloomer (latebloomer), Saturday, 8 May 2004 14:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Alex your dirtbikes in junior high didn't have "nard guards," i.e. foam padding on the crossbar in case you come off the seat in mid-air and land the wrong way? Mine did, & I'm a oooold man

J0hn Darn1elle (J0hn Darn1elle), Saturday, 8 May 2004 14:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Mine did too. How old can you be?

Huffy 4 Ever

TheNewJMod (JMod), Saturday, 8 May 2004 14:35 (twenty-one years ago)

It did, but I don't believe we referred to it as a "nard guard".

I had a Huffy Pro-Thunder BMX that I -- and I shit ye not -- won in a box of Cheerios.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 8 May 2004 14:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Olden times were so cool. Tell us more, daddy?

TheNewJMod (JMod), Saturday, 8 May 2004 14:58 (twenty-one years ago)

that's so punk rock!

Eisbär (llamasfur), Saturday, 8 May 2004 15:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Not really. If it had been a Mongoose or something, then maybe....

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 8 May 2004 15:04 (twenty-one years ago)

that musta been a big box of cheerios!

s1ocki (slutsky), Saturday, 8 May 2004 15:29 (twenty-one years ago)

and the only reason she probably kicked him was because she also knows that she is not punk but hates to admit it.

She admits it all the time.

My name is Kenny (My name is Kenny), Saturday, 8 May 2004 16:08 (twenty-one years ago)

her music sucks, but I don't really see how she's destroying punk as the only song resembling it sonically at all on her album that I heard was Skater Boi, and not really...it was more a palm-muted power pop tune.

destroying MUSIC, on the other hand, and then we're getting somewhere :)

uh (eetface), Saturday, 8 May 2004 21:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Her mom, Judy Lavigne, was just on Letterman, by the way. Judy kicked nobody in the nardz.

My favorite post in ILM EVER.

David Allen (David Allen), Saturday, 8 May 2004 21:14 (twenty-one years ago)

she's on saturday night live tonight. it will be great.

keith m (keithmcl), Saturday, 8 May 2004 21:18 (twenty-one years ago)

I still wish she would drop the rebelious teenager schtick and record a country album.

And I also like how the video for her new song is about how she won't have sex with some guy and she's not the type of girl who just gives it up like that, and the song is all empowering and then in the video she's in her underwear. Really empowering.

David Allen (David Allen), Saturday, 8 May 2004 21:21 (twenty-one years ago)

she's too busy fighting the Man. she doesn't have to be consistant.

latebloomer (latebloomer), Saturday, 8 May 2004 21:25 (twenty-one years ago)

she hasn't changed her image at all. is that punk? if she was fake she'd have had a boob job.

keith m (keithmcl), Saturday, 8 May 2004 21:37 (twenty-one years ago)

well, she doesn't strike me as particularly rebellious.

"She's fighting the mainstream music scene by having the Matrix co-write a good portion of her songs, and strumming generic acoustic tunes! Oh, but she yells now and then!"

she's only popular with males because they like squeezing her ass when she crowdsurfs.

uh (eetface), Saturday, 8 May 2004 21:39 (twenty-one years ago)

This new single is great (OK, better than most things on the radio if not great), and you have to love the positioning.

Her first album was primed for 14-15 year old girls - they could relate to her, sk8er bois could fantasize. Now they're a couple of years older, on the verge of innocence lost, so she drops a "I'm not giving it up (but someday I might if we really luv each other)" ballad. Beautiful.

I'm praying for a college-drama/Exile in Guyville-meets-Hot Topic album from her in a couple of years.

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Saturday, 8 May 2004 21:44 (twenty-one years ago)

I wretched over that shit in high school and I guess I will wretch again.

I'm waiting for her to genre hop into rap.

"A. Lavigne ain't nuttin ta fuck wit!"

uh (eetface), Saturday, 8 May 2004 21:45 (twenty-one years ago)

I call hoax and/or PR move on this one

Matos W.K. (M Matos), Saturday, 8 May 2004 21:46 (twenty-one years ago)

I bet nowadays they schedule appointments for potential feuds.

Probably even require resumes from the feudees.

uh (eetface), Saturday, 8 May 2004 21:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Keep in mind, Matos, that this is the same girl who fired her bass player by giving him a cake that said "So long, motherfucker!"

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Saturday, 8 May 2004 21:48 (twenty-one years ago)

so of course she could come up with a hoax like this one! thanks for proving my point, Dan!

Matos W.K. (M Matos), Saturday, 8 May 2004 21:48 (twenty-one years ago)

she deserves having one of those old 80's styled RC car remotes rammed in and out of her ass repeatedly

uh (eetface), Saturday, 8 May 2004 21:49 (twenty-one years ago)

ewwww

Matos W.K. (M Matos), Saturday, 8 May 2004 21:49 (twenty-one years ago)

we're trapped on some horrible evening at the improv/fangoria loop to hell here

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Saturday, 8 May 2004 21:49 (twenty-one years ago)

strongo I kiss you. and give you this: http://www.itv.com/news/2043375.html, apropos of nothing.

Matos W.K. (M Matos), Saturday, 8 May 2004 21:51 (twenty-one years ago)

can't be as bad as all the kids who wore black armbands or whatever when RATM Broke up

"Why, Rage, why?"

uh (eetface), Saturday, 8 May 2004 21:52 (twenty-one years ago)

who did THAT?!

Matos W.K. (M Matos), Saturday, 8 May 2004 21:53 (twenty-one years ago)

haha matos that link just made my day

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Saturday, 8 May 2004 21:54 (twenty-one years ago)

no idea. this guy I knew was bitching about it, saying kids all over his high school were up in arms over it, when it happened.

next thing you know, Blink 182 calling it quits will resemble the opening montage of Evita....

uh (eetface), Saturday, 8 May 2004 21:55 (twenty-one years ago)

I aim to please, Strongo.

Matos W.K. (M Matos), Saturday, 8 May 2004 21:55 (twenty-one years ago)

I call hoax on the guy bitching about it to uh, too.

Matos W.K. (M Matos), Saturday, 8 May 2004 21:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Hoax? What exactly would the friend of mine have to gain on making up that a bunch of people in his school were wearing armbands after the RATM breakup? Keep in mind this was quite a few years ago.

uh (eetface), Saturday, 8 May 2004 21:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Has someone got a picture of Avril rocking that pair of ill-advised 1940s comedian horn-rimmed glasses she was wearing on her UK PR run recently?

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Saturday, 8 May 2004 21:57 (twenty-one years ago)

I'd kill to see those.

uh (eetface), Saturday, 8 May 2004 22:00 (twenty-one years ago)

maybe he was trying to get a response out of you, uh

Matos W.K. (M Matos), Saturday, 8 May 2004 22:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Hrm, yea, that's it. Even though it wasn't something I gave much of a shit about, and that he was talking to many other people at the same time, since it was online.

uh (eetface), Saturday, 8 May 2004 22:01 (twenty-one years ago)

the only thing noteworthy I took from Avril Lavigne is that one live performance that floated around the net with her asscrack hanging out of her pants.

uh (eetface), Saturday, 8 May 2004 22:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh god, I've missed Avril threads.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Saturday, 8 May 2004 22:03 (twenty-one years ago)

if you switch two letters in her name, she becomes an 80's heavy metal band:

uh (eetface), Saturday, 8 May 2004 22:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Her name is Avnil now?

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Saturday, 8 May 2004 22:07 (twenty-one years ago)

I meant replace two letters completely ,not reposition them :)

uh (eetface), Saturday, 8 May 2004 22:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Let's not get bogged down in semantics.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Saturday, 8 May 2004 22:10 (twenty-one years ago)

sorry, uh, it sounds like bullshit to me. but maybe it isn't. whatever.

Matos W.K. (M Matos), Saturday, 8 May 2004 22:10 (twenty-one years ago)

haha, you're still on that subject?

uh (eetface), Saturday, 8 May 2004 22:11 (twenty-one years ago)

ooh! uh discovered ILx snark and is RUNNIN' WILD w/it! look out everyone!

Matos W.K. (M Matos), Saturday, 8 May 2004 22:12 (twenty-one years ago)

"omg if I snap on someone who answered something that's six or more posts back that totally makes me the man! tee hee!"

Matos W.K. (M Matos), Saturday, 8 May 2004 22:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Er, I wasn't knocking or making fun of you, so I'm not sure what your issue is. I've been relatively well behaved for the last three days after settling with Ned after a discussion with John. Perhaps you misinterpreted what I meant.

uh (eetface), Saturday, 8 May 2004 22:15 (twenty-one years ago)

I probably did, sorry.

Matos W.K. (M Matos), Saturday, 8 May 2004 22:16 (twenty-one years ago)

zallright.

Anyway, what were we talking about?

Oh yes, Avril's new line of thongs made out of converted slingshots....

uh (eetface), Saturday, 8 May 2004 22:17 (twenty-one years ago)

avnil? isn't that a drug?

Eisbär (llamasfur), Saturday, 8 May 2004 22:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Rockstar Ryan marks Friends end
4.03PM, Sat May 8 2004

American rocker Ryan Adams has temporarily closed his website as a mark of respect for the end of TV show Friends.

After the last episode was aired in the US Ryan closed his website "until further notice" and dedicated it to Joey, Chandler, Monica, Ross, Rachel and Phoebe - the show's characters.

And then he gets drunk, calls up DeRogatis and Christgau and weeps about it for a hour and a half.

The Communards - Classic or Dud?

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Sunday, 9 May 2004 11:43 (twenty-one years ago)

She needs to cover Sundays' "I Kicked a Boy" ASAP. Her management needs to pull an "Instant Karma" and have that shit in stores by the end of the week.

Mark (MarkR), Sunday, 9 May 2004 15:50 (twenty-one years ago)

She was pretty good on SNL last night (though I only saw the second song). Better than Courtney on the Tonight Show a couple of weeks ago.

Tim Ellison, Sunday, 9 May 2004 17:14 (twenty-one years ago)

I saw that. She was incredible. I love her.

Sonny A. (Keiko), Sunday, 9 May 2004 17:26 (twenty-one years ago)
