Momus (Momus), Saturday, 8 May 2004 09:20 (twenty-one years ago)

He's a truly truly interesting person.

scottjames23 (worrysome-man), Saturday, 8 May 2004 09:38 (twenty-one years ago)

i bet he frenches on the first date.

el sabor de gene (yournullfame), Saturday, 8 May 2004 09:49 (twenty-one years ago)

I always feel sorry for him when I see him now, it's like every move he makes is an admission tof how desperate he is to continue making a living outside the civilian-sector. However grebt starstruck-J0hn story when I was 19 I saw PTV on their hypderdelic tour (the last interesting music Gen made, to my ears) and P-Orridge was kissing all these girls in the front row and doing all this tons-of-eye-contact stuff & so I fixed him with my permanently irresistable come-hither glance and he kissed me full on the mouth! In the middle of the song "I Like You" no less! All the other goths in attendance were crazy jealous let me tell you. A series of injections later & I was pronounced "incommunicable" by the local MD

bimble (bimble), Saturday, 8 May 2004 16:50 (twenty-one years ago)

yes, and i think he's changed his name to Breyer P. Orridge or something like that. he and his lady friend are trying to become twins er something

ken taylrr (ken taylrr), Saturday, 8 May 2004 19:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Does his gristle still throb or has he gone all the way with the sex-change??

latebloomer (latebloomer), Saturday, 8 May 2004 21:02 (twenty-one years ago)

he goes to great lengths in a recent article to insist that he's not interested in changing his sex. I only skimmed, but apparently it's an art thing.

roger adultery (roger adultery), Saturday, 8 May 2004 21:25 (twenty-one years ago)

yes, true. something about him not necessarily feeling trapped in a *man's* body, but rather trapped in a body itself.

Dadaismus (Dada), Sunday, 9 May 2004 12:48 (twenty-one years ago)

If you can track down the latest issue of BB Gun, GPO is on the cover and there's a huge interview with Breyer P-Orridge which is a new collective name for him and his wife Lady Jaye. He's not trying to become a woman and they're not trying to become twins.
It's like a high concept thing about trying to create a hermaphroditic third being, a "Pandrogyne" named Breyer P-Orridge. I think so far they've gotten matching boob jobs and Gen had some plastic surgery on his face. Hope that clarifies thing a bit.

Butt Dickus (Dick Butkus), Sunday, 10 September 2006 11:30 (eighteen years ago)

And he's got a TOPY pendant on to impress GP, I guess. I have never known him to be remotely interested in thing TOPY. What a wiener.

Butt Dickus (Dick Butkus), Sunday, 10 September 2006 11:31 (eighteen years ago)

But apparently they're "longtime friends" so I guess I'm the wiener. But, I knew that already. It's funny how you know someone and then they turn out to have weird beliefs.... unless he's just wearing the pendant to be cool, as I say. But, I doubt it. He's probably like that other drummer there. The guy from the Dwarves. He's all occulty, too. Fucking drummers, man. Jeez. Oh yeah, and singer/musicians, too.

Butt Dickass (Dick Butkus), Sunday, 10 September 2006 11:39 (eighteen years ago)

And he's got a TOPY pendant

Well if he's in the band at the moment, it would make sense that he's wearing a pyshic cross. I would guess even Fred wore a psychic cross now and then, and he thought that TOPY stuff was a lot of crap.

Rockist_Scientist (RSLaRue), Sunday, 10 September 2006 13:38 (eighteen years ago)

TOPY was total nonsense but it's a cool symbol. i'd wear one.

stirmonster (stirmonster), Sunday, 10 September 2006 15:19 (eighteen years ago)

This is interesting that this thread comes up just now, I've been reading the new book about Ian Curtis - "Torn Apart: The Life of Ian Curtis" and Ian was apparently a huge admirer of Genesis and Throbbing Gristle, even though the rest of Joy Division weren't.

I am not Ted Nugent (Bimble...), Sunday, 10 September 2006 17:07 (eighteen years ago)

If Ian had lived, JD would have become much more avant garde than New Order ever were.
