...and think they're great! I'm totally late on this, I know, but just reviewed the new one and definitely want more. Where do I go next? How hard to track down (on slsk or otherwise) are the early cassette releases? Is everything he's done this great?

Just go buy The Microphones offshoot instead.

Mr Noodles you evil man, Old Time Relijun is quite wonderful! Witchcraft Rebellion is the one that totally kicks my butt. I like the Microphones but OTR is way more fun

If you can stomach Arrington I suppose.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Saturday, 8 May 2004 11:50 (twenty-one years ago)

so far, I LOVE Arrington! Witchcraft Rebellion it is

Old Time Relijun kicks the Microphones' ass. That band usually has a couple great ACTUAL songs and then wind noises on the 38 other tracks (they call these things "headphone albums" on Pitchfork). "Jail," "Vampire Victim," "Archeopteryx Claw," and plenty other tracks are like a more carefree JSBX. I definitely dig them.

There's part of the reason I don't bother with Pitchfork.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Saturday, 8 May 2004 16:11 (twenty-one years ago)

I've been meaning to pick up a disc after loosing my mp3 stash a while ago. Should I just get the new one?

christhamrin (christhamrin), Saturday, 8 May 2004 16:13 (twenty-one years ago)

I like the new one a lot but it doesn't wow me the way "Witchcraft Rebellion" did HOWEVER it does have that Vampire song which is like the greatest indie rock song ever

J0hn Darn1elle (J0hn Darn1elle), Saturday, 8 May 2004 16:25 (twenty-one years ago)

withcraft rebellion seconded. great!

Dark Inside The Sun (OTR member, ex-Deerhoof) is playing in Brooklyn tonight.

For added fun, read the reviews of OTR on Pitchfork. Some of the most hilariously scathing reviews ever. (Which actually made me want to hear the band in the first place. Surely nothing could be that bad?)

Prude (Prude), Saturday, 8 May 2004 19:16 (twenty-one years ago)

OTR are for some reason very popular here in Knoxville.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Saturday, 8 May 2004 19:18 (twenty-one years ago)

really? thats great because we're moving there (or nashville) in august. which reminds me...its time for another Adultery Relocation Saga thread...we've sorta made up our minds...

i'm gonna go read those pitchfork reviews now and chuckle at the charmless nu-journalism arrogance i've come to expect

roger adultery (roger adultery), Saturday, 8 May 2004 19:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Prude otm - same w/the allmusic reviews

christhamrin (christhamrin), Saturday, 8 May 2004 19:33 (twenty-one years ago)

This isn't really helpful as their tour ended last night, but they're one of the greatest live bands I've ever seen. Imagine a room packed with 14 year old kids dancing to a 5 minute jew's harp solo. Yeah.

Kevin Erickson, Sunday, 9 May 2004 06:34 (twenty-one years ago)

at my ultraliberal college, i was once chastised for calling it a 'jew's harp.' I was told that the proper name was "JAW harp," so as not to offend God's chosen people. Oy vey.
