Scantily organized Mix CDs.. Classic or Classic?

When fellow ILXer Gareth was visiting here (in seattle), we exchanged some music. I had scant time to make a quick audio CD-R compilation of his on-the-road CD-R compilations. The track listing is purely the order in which I ripped the songs, but this has been my favorite CD compilation I've listened to for a Loooooong time:

1.M83 & Benoit Villenueve - "Run Into Flowers (Jackson Remix)"
2.Justus Kohncke "Ich versteck mich vor der wirklichkeit"
3.Alan Braxe & Fred Falke "Rubicon"
4.The Detroit Experiment "Take Time"
5.Legowelt "Disco Rout"
6.Gals And Pals "Blue On Blue"
7.Alec R. Constandinos "Phoebus & Esmerelda"
8.Morgan Geist "Lullaby"
9.Stars Of The Lid "A Love Song For Cubs (Part One)"
10.Montgolfier Brothers "Four Days"
11.Montgolfier Brothers "Fin"

I love everything on this, especially the first track and the Mongolfier Brothers... more on them, please.

I'm new on here but I'd just like to say that mix looks really good. I have the M83 and have heard some Morgan Geist but not the others...wish I did though.

Bold, though; ain't it? I'm gonna go start off a mix with "Hallo Gallo" now.

haha, when I saw this thread title, I thought of Gareth! I spent a bunch of time re-tagging his trife mixes yesterday.

TeenESP!

And what's with this "starting off a mix CD with a 7 minute song = bold" thing?

donut bitch (donut), Sunday, 9 May 2004 18:42 (twenty-one years ago)

man, i hate 'theme' tapes. I don't put a whole lotta thought into my mixtapes, since they're usually only for me and whoever happens to be riding with me in the car. I tape them as i buy them / download them or borrow them. I started a tape today that went something like this:

1. Anthony Hamilton - "Lucille"
2. Hot Snakes - "10th Planet"
3. Libertines - (the 'boys in the band' song)
4. Opeth - "In My Time of Need"
5. Stanley Brothers - "Tenderhearted"
6. Camarosmith - (the song with the numbers - 714 or something?)
7. Miek Rep & The Quotas - "Mama Was A Schizo..."

anyway, you get the idea. if it moves me, on it goes. i hate scouring the cartes and making a mix of old stuff.

thanks much,db . appreciated!

william (william), Sunday, 9 May 2004 20:03 (twenty-one years ago)

that Jackson remix beautiful! So much popping.

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 9 May 2004 20:11 (twenty-one years ago)

It's amazing.. rarely do poppy/glitchy tracks do much for me these days, but this stands well above the rest.

donut bitch (donut), Sunday, 9 May 2004 20:15 (twenty-one years ago)

(I like how my rogue collection of Gareth's comps is getting all this reponse... maybe Gareth himself should just post his complete mix CDs and excite people far more... :) )

donut bitch (donut), Sunday, 9 May 2004 20:20 (twenty-one years ago)

It's glitchy but it's also totally euphoric and big-roomy!

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 9 May 2004 20:21 (twenty-one years ago)

hmmmm....found everything with what i had as well as searching fileshareres. just can't grab the detriot experiment or the Alec R. Constandinos anywhere. any kind souls out there wanna tip me,i'd be greatful.[insert record shop joke here] from what i've gleened,i like most of it.

william (william), Sunday, 9 May 2004 22:29 (twenty-one years ago)

My guess is that you're not finding Detroit Experiment 'cause the title's most likely "Think Twice" -- a Mizell-era Donald Byrd tune.
