the homoeroticism in ghostface's 'run'

"after the first verse ends, jadakiss says 'im gonna have to take my shirt off' which is kinda gay in itself, i mean, why does he have to take it off in the vocal booth. and if he was running, how does he find time to take his top off?

anyway, after that, ghost says 'yeah kid' in a breathy, encouraging, anticipatory, soft pre-coital way.

jada then says 'i like that one'. im not gonna say what hes talking about, cos well im a bit worried to hear that two of my favourite rappers might be grabbing each other's mic chords, but then ghost says 'yeah, go in, go in' with a really quivering, vulnerable quality to his voice.

i think its all quite obvious whats going on."

homosociality in hip hop knows no bounds.

I hope this scotches these unfounded allegations once and for all.

noodle vague (noodle vague), Monday, 10 May 2004 20:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Hugging drag queens is probably not the best way to convince people that you aren't gay.

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 10 May 2004 20:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Anybody fancy a sweep on when the first Googler turns up on this thread and has a coronary?

King Kobra (King Kobra), Monday, 10 May 2004 21:11 (twenty-one years ago)

there was a while where i was starting to think raekwon and ghostface were an item - i don't remember which wu tang video it was, but ghostface was hugging raekwon during his verse and actually kisses him on the forehead at one point.

el sabor de gene (yournullfame), Monday, 10 May 2004 23:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Have you seen the way those football players slap each other on the ass? TOTALLY GAY.

This, for me, is the greatest possible advertisement for this particular record.

My favorite instance of homoeroticism in hip hop is on the Marshall Mathers album on the song with Snoop dogg, Xzibit, etc., where Eminem says "80 pound balls, dick 6 inch long", and after the second of these lines Snoop goes "mmmm" as if he were licking his lips. It is very funny.

the video is set in a prison, too, a place where men frequently have gay sex (no homo).

This reminds me of that skit on "Bulletproof Wallets", where Ghostface's friend Superb reminisces on how they spent their youthful days together, and says that back then Ghost had a saying, which went: "Let's smoke some weed, and can I fuck you too, real good?". At the first listen I actually thought this was what Ghost said to Superb himself, but paying closer attention to the lyrics revealed that this was what Ghost said to the girls he and Superb met. Superb's choice of words leaves room for interpretation, though...

Also, if Raekwon and Ghostface were an item, this would shed a whole new light on the "weird" cover of Bulletproof Wallets:

It's obviously a morning-after shot: Ghost and Rae have had rough night, and Ghost, being the sensitive guy he is, is making breakfast for Rae.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 07:13 (twenty-one years ago)

But Raekwon is the Chef!

Sym (shmuel), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 07:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, but I guess he wants to carry on with the passive role from the previous night.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 07:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, they like to switch roles. That bathrobe certainly is lending support to your assertions.

Sym (shmuel), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 07:43 (twenty-one years ago)

...and why are Ghostface and Jadakiss on the run in the first place? Why, they were caught, George Michael style, in a public bathroom. These cocksuckers got nerve raps Ghostface, and he isn't talking about the police...

JoB (JoB), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 10:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Tim Dog is still the biggest homothug though... That album was peppered with gay shit and some song in it that was set in jail where he let's an inmate know "beef? nigga, you look kinda sweet"

angel duster, Tuesday, 11 May 2004 23:46 (twenty-one years ago)

which song is the jada line about giving a faggot a french kiss on?

hh, Wednesday, 12 May 2004 00:02 (twenty-one years ago)

And remember that one Jada song, "I'm a bottom!"? I thought that was mighty suspicious!!

David Allen (David Allen), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 03:52 (twenty-one years ago)

And his name is, you know, "Jadakiss." That's pretty gay. I mean, say it out loud a few times.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 03:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Why is Eminem boasting about having a 6 inch dick?

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 04:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Because he's got enormous BALLS, Tim!

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 04:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Ghost is rockin' a kind of Noel Coward look on that Bulletproof cover, don'cha think?

noodle vague (noodle vague), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 07:48 (twenty-one years ago)

both ghost and jada are men, coincidence?

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 07:50 (twenty-one years ago)
