I volunteered to review this because it was on Birdman and because I liked the title - turns out its great, shambling batshit folk rock. Lazy folks would cite Barrett but I know better and I cite Pip Proud. Really, really interesting in that hopelessly Californian way. One of my favorite releases of the latest pile!

Anyone heard it?

Actually Ashley's only been in Cali a couple of years. He's from here in Houston -- actually closer to Galveston. Haven't heard the album though

After hearing "Legs Coca-Cola" on the radio a few times, I decided to search out the album--- it's good stuff. It definitely sounds home recorded, but it's still a creative and interesting sounding record.

Greg's apparently in a band now called Gris Gris, who should be releasing an album some time soon.

two months pass...

i just got the gris gris album from the radio station where i do a show - its ok - sounds like noisier galaxie 500 with J&MC hints, too - some songs sound like those two bands doing stooges covers, some sound like those two bands doing their own songs... some good guitar histrionics, a few thumping drums, but a little hollow-sounding for me. all the reverb just puts me to sleep a little bit. still, ive only listened once and did like some of what i heard. maybe itll be a grower.
