Does anyone else think that a big part of the "exoticism" of pop (esp eastern influences in hiphop) has more to do with the quality of the samples available on korg and yamaha workstations lately than anything else? (Motif ES in undoing all carefully built postcolonial theories of recent musicamaking shockah)
Have you heard anything really novel lately? Outside of the field of instrument replication, I wonder if synths have really come that far in terms of newsound generation? are all VAs just more efficient versions of their forbearers?
