I like them all. What else should I be listening to?

This is a trick question, isn't it? The camera are on, aren't they?! Am I on TV?

Cock-rock is where it's at. Start with the genre's peak (music's peak?), the Scandinavian powerock scene (Gluecifer, the Hellacopters, Turbonegro, Backyard Babies), and work backwards from there (Monster Magnet, Motorhead, MC5). That's what I'm doing anyway. Rock is only dead to those who never liked it in the first place.

shut up. there's plenty of people out there who would much sooner listen to their ac/dc and mc5 records than listen to the overrated hype that is that whole scandinavian mess. rock isn't necessarily dead; it's just that those who wave the banner of "rock and roll" tend to be those who don't recognize that they're simply boring retreads who people enjoy for no other purpose than to revel in kitsch. have fun standing around in your harley-davidson t-shirt and tight black jeans hoping madly that some hot rockabilly girl is going to notice your cool belt buckle.

The first two Iron Maiden albums. ('Iron Maiden' and 'Killers')

Chris, check out the 1st Monster Magnet album. Very good. Of course Royal Trux "Accelerator" and Alice In Chains "Dirt" pisses from great height on new Scandinavian snore-rock.

Warrant! first two albums are hair metal and third was harder..fourth was a balance...now it's a cover band with the lead singer but up until a few years ago they rocked..yeah.

I am impossibly offended that anyone would assume that I would ever even think about wearing a) a Harley shirt b) black jeans, let alone tight ones c) a belt with a noticeable buckle. I think I shall go pout in a corner and listen to Mainliner.

You have great taste. If you are in the realms of Blue Oyster Cult, you would probably like UFO a lot (Micheal Schenker, brother of the the Scorpions Rudolph Schenker, plays amazing riffs). You can't mention cock rock without mentioning Ratt or Motley Crue. You shouldn't take them as seriously though. Queensryche makes great records. Start out with Operation: Mindcrime.

If you're into retro computer gaming at all, you really should track down a copy of "Rock'n'Roll Racing" for the SNES/Super Famicom or the Megadrive/Genesis, its got all that kind of thing on the soundtrack (seriously!).

For bands influenced by them...

"80s metal" AC/DC clones = Rhino Bucket, Dirty Looks, Johnny Crash, Noisy Mama, Smashed Gladys, Kix ca. BLOW MY FUSE and HOT WIRE, Britny Fox, Cult ca. ELECTRIC, maybe Jackyl.

Early 90s Guns N' Roses clones = Pariah, Spread Eagle, Electric Angels, Tuff, Wildside.

Blue Oyster Cult = no obvious clones. Maybe Brain Surgeons, mid/late- 90s band of Albert Bouchard, ex-rock crit Deborah Frost, Tommy Hilfiger's brother on guitar, lyrics by R. Meltzer, P. Smith, etc.

Zep tribute acts = Katmandu, Blue Murder, Kingdom Come, Great White, Coverdale/Page.
