what the fuck is this shit and why is it on my MTV?

Al (sitcom), Thursday, 20 May 2004 16:51 (twenty-one years ago)

i was wondering that too. i think major label faux-indie groups are actually more obscure in a way than regular indie ones. it's strange how that works out.

duke 2, Thursday, 20 May 2004 17:28 (twenty-one years ago)

the australian kids? awful.

lauren (laurenp), Thursday, 20 May 2004 17:29 (twenty-one years ago)

i didn't think he/they were going to be great, but i wasn't expecting something so unredeemably bad.

lauren (laurenp), Thursday, 20 May 2004 17:31 (twenty-one years ago)

The first ep is light years better than this new one.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Thursday, 20 May 2004 17:33 (twenty-one years ago)

are visors the new trucker hat?

Al (sitcom), Thursday, 20 May 2004 17:39 (twenty-one years ago)

I got this 12" "serviced" from their local PR. It's got mixes by TV On the Radio, Photek, M83 and some others. What's odd is it doesn't have the original song, so I have no idea what they actually sound like. One of the mixes is kinda cool and noisy.

But the 12" comes in a gatefold sleeve with 3 flat full color pieces of glossy art.

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Thursday, 20 May 2004 17:43 (twenty-one years ago)

the video's kinda wacky. right before i watched it i had just seen part of the video of the guy getting his head chopped off by terrorists and i was all spooked and then the Bumblebeez video ends with some guys head falling off and i was even more creeped out.

JaXoN (JasonD), Thursday, 20 May 2004 19:04 (twenty-one years ago)

pretty much everybody in australia agrees the bumblebeez suck ten flavours of grotty cock on the moon

the surface noise made by people (electricsound), Thursday, 20 May 2004 21:31 (twenty-one years ago)

I cannot abide big heads in videos. Or anywhere else for that matter.

Ben Dot (1977), Thursday, 20 May 2004 22:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Worst live act ever. Borderline offensive.

Melissa W (Melissa W), Thursday, 20 May 2004 23:31 (twenty-one years ago)

and you can bet there was some uproar about them getting that support slot.

the surface noise made by people (electricsound), Thursday, 20 May 2004 23:37 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm so sick of sticking up for these guys....
their gritty beaty hip hop stuff is so much more innovative than most other stuff coming out of this country.

glennyg2003, Friday, 21 May 2004 00:30 (twenty-one years ago)

taking sides: Australia exporting bad Nirvana/garage rock wannabes vs. Australia exporting bad Beck circa Mellow Gold wannabes

Al (sitcom), Friday, 21 May 2004 00:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Well I can see how that comparison is truly a gripping question that deserves much in the way of zzzzzzzzz.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 21 May 2004 02:00 (twenty-one years ago)

and you can bet there was some uproar about them getting that support slot.

Oh, did some band come through town?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 21 May 2004 02:01 (twenty-one years ago)

yep, the very same

the surface noise made by people (electricsound), Friday, 21 May 2004 02:04 (twenty-one years ago)

So how were Spooky Tooth anyway?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 21 May 2004 02:05 (twenty-one years ago)

I hate the video. I'm so sick of people doing this type of cut and paste video, memo to these guys, Incubus, Interpol and Modest Mouse: IT'S NOT FUCKING HIP ANYMORE CHOOSE A NEW GIMMICK PLEASE.

David Allen (David Allen), Friday, 21 May 2004 02:13 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah, I've noticed that there are a lot of videos like that these days, too. and the sad thing is, the New Found Glory video is probably the best out of all the above.

Jesus. Compared to what Australian hip-hop producers?

Mil, Friday, 21 May 2004 02:41 (twenty-one years ago)

quite possibly the worst band currently making music in the entire universe. there is nothing borderline about their offensiveness, they are all the way offensive in their blackhole of suck.

kerry getz (kgetz), Friday, 21 May 2004 09:53 (twenty-one years ago)

terrible. the song is just annoying. the album only gets worse. way worse. you should hear it when the female raps.http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/music/

hotmailisyou, Friday, 21 May 2004 16:22 (twenty-one years ago)

I heard a dodgy remix of I: Monster by the B-Beez, but I'm holding out for when I'm in Rough Trade next to pass judgement. Mind you, it hardly sounded like the sorta act the Sugababes' management would be chasing for beats.

Barima (Barima), Friday, 21 May 2004 16:27 (twenty-one years ago)

worst single of the year?

chaki_burger (chaki), Wednesday, 26 May 2004 19:25 (twenty-one years ago)

oh nevermind. i just saw hoobastank's "the reason."

chaki_burger (chaki), Wednesday, 26 May 2004 19:27 (twenty-one years ago)

I was surprised when I saw Hoobastank's video and then saw that the band's name was Hoobastank. Hoobastank sounds like the name of a Cypress Hill/Funkdoobiest spinoff group or something.

donut bitch (donut), Wednesday, 26 May 2004 19:35 (twenty-one years ago)

and that Bumblebeez video looks like something you'd see on Liquid Television (early 90s animation show on MTV) that you'd want to end in 10 seconds, but would actually take three minutes, and therefore NEVER END.

donut bitch (donut), Wednesday, 26 May 2004 19:37 (twenty-one years ago)

I like the Franz Ferdinand video

Sonny A. (Keiko), Wednesday, 26 May 2004 19:37 (twenty-one years ago)

And "The Reason" is clearly Hoobastank's best work

Sonny A. (Keiko), Wednesday, 26 May 2004 19:37 (twenty-one years ago)

THIS ALBUM IS SO BAD OMG SO SOO SOSOSOSOSBGAGAGHUIOGHPUIGHP&*((GV*POG*POG*&T^*OBVGFI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 26 May 2004 20:06 (twenty-one years ago)

nine years pass...

i remembered this song
i just watched the video again
it's charmingly amusical

shiny trippy people holding bandz (m bison), Saturday, 19 October 2013 14:57 (twelve years ago)

was this the last time MTV had enough of a music hype machine to try to forcefeed a terrible band to the public?

deez so unusual (some dude), Saturday, 19 October 2013 15:08 (twelve years ago)

i remember talking to the bumblebeez dude on MSN messenger once in college
he was kind of a chore to read

shiny trippy people holding bandz (m bison), Saturday, 19 October 2013 15:16 (twelve years ago)

didn't the album take another three years to even come out, after strongo et al. were railing against it itt?
