err...don't have the details, which makes me kind of useless. *but* the advice I'm looking for: it's been described as microhouse, but I've not heard it / them (2 guys, right)? Is it good microhouse? WOuld it be good to dance to? Oh yeah, it's $10, I remember that.

It's Sammy Dee, half of Pantytec, and yes he's good. Last time he played here it was thick and shivery, needling techno...definitely dancey. At Filter 14, a great smallish club in the Meatpacking District (432 14th Street between 8th and 9th Avenues).

thanks andy, it sounds really promising.

I've seen Sammy Dee DJ and he's fucking tremendous. Markus Nikolai, also of Perlon, is playing Seattle in two Saturdays. Perlon invasion! Yay!

Matos, I asked this on the Portland FAP thread, but is Markus touring the West Coast? Please say yes.

I can't find any info! I looked . . . no luck. The Perlon website wouldn't load and googling "Perlon tour" didn't help either.

Yeah, it looks like the Perlon site is under construction. I'll just keep my hopes up and my nose to the ground.

man i really wish i could go to this.

is that the same markus nikolai who does the minimal bleep-bleep-blorp stuff on raster-noton and affilliated?

That's the guy.

Barry Bruner (Barry Bruner), Friday, 21 May 2004 20:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Barry Bruner (Barry Bruner), Friday, 21 May 2004 20:31 (twenty-one years ago)

NO!! NOT NOTO!!

that's carsten nicolai, not markus nicolai.

I just wrote my Markus Nikolai preview for the paper. I'm giving up a Portland FAP for this show, and that's saying a lot because a lot of my friends are gonna be there.

if anyone is going, the reduced guestlist password is "KeepSmarty Sucks", and we're having an afterparty with sammy from 4am until whenever. see you there!

one year passes...
i was there at Avalon (née the Limelight) last night for these guys - whazzow!! the plupart of the crowd was hilariously confused, vertical-striped, gelled, and mixed, as m&m's in ice cream, with little eddies of dancers who really were feeling it.. i didn't make it to the afterparty (where those two were supposedly going to keep playing?); i imagine phil was there?

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Sunday, 22 January 2006 21:21 (twenty years ago)

hell yes! pantytec was AWESOME last night. totally rejuvenated my psyched-up-ness for perlon.

the afterparty went until at least noon, i think....did anyone go? i was too tired. i caught a cab home at 5 am.

sure sign it was a good party--i lost my voice!

geeta (geeta), Sunday, 22 January 2006 22:53 (twenty years ago)

the only thing that could have made it better would have been a live drummer. but i say that about all techno sets.
