I have to say, the Vive La Fete show was the very worst I have seen this year. It was excruciating. And I go out quite a bit. (This was in the Netherlands, not Montreal obv.)

What time did you get there, mark? Matthew Dear and The Mole were both great and knew how to plug their gear in and make it sound good, although Mr. Dear didn't sing (good thing? bad thing?). Luomo meh, and Metro Area, oh dear. Not sure how it happens that these dudes didn't seem know that you can't plug a cd player into a phono input, which is what it sounded like to me... and then resisted any efforts to fix it on the part of the sound people (they would have had to stop for, like, 30 seconds to fix it). I would have been annoyed if I'd paid $25 for that.

Should have gone to Corpusse, oh well.

i should've!!

anyway, i got there way too late because of some craziness at a boutique hotel bar (!), but we caught the last half of luomo, which i kinda enjoyed, but metro area--man, i've never heard a system distort that badly.

i hate metropolis. i've never enjoyed a show there. man does the sound suck! we were right up at the front and could hear each other speak, even quietly, and that ain't right. feh.
