Good Records that should never be played ever again.

i was sitting in a style bar (heh) the weekend before last and the DJ played Marlene's "California Soul" as his last track and i thought to myself "this is a great song but i never want to hear it ever again". The thought was tinged with sadness somewhat 'cos i really really used to love the song so much, bah.

What good songs do you never want to hear again in a bar or a club? apologies if this has been covered to death but i couldn't find anything on a search.

("Rappers Delight" owns this thread btw.... i may kill the next person who plays it)

"Celebrate" by Kool & the Gang....actually, fuck that, that's not even a good song.

...also "good times" and not only because of the Rappers Delight connection.

Leee's a Simpson (Leee), Friday, 28 May 2004 05:41 (twenty-one years ago)

i've never quite understood this attitude - there is no song that i like that i would never want to hear again, even 'dancing queen'.

its interesting that most people responding so far have talked about people playing 70s funk / breaks etc... - there do seemm to be some acknowledged classics that djs always play and appear on every comp ever. the same is becomign true with all the post punk / disco not disco stuff - how many comps do 'dominatrix sleeps tonite' and 'bostich' now appear on - at least 10 each i reckon.

so there's my gripe - there are no songs that i like that i never want to hear again, but there are lots that i want never to see on a compilation for a long time. 'is it all over my face' by loose joints must be near the top - surely there are other tracks that you can put on disco comps!!

"Jump Around" is right now having a slap-fight with "Rapper's Delight" as to who really own's this thread.

Anything by the Pixies or Stooges, with particular reference to "Debaser" and "I Wanna Be Your Dog"

I thought the same thing about VU's - Pale Blue Eyes, because it had a weird effect on me, that I dont think it could ever have again.

David Allen (David Allen), Saturday, 29 May 2004 18:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Be sure to Loop! Loop, Loop, Loop. (ex machina), Saturday, 29 May 2004 20:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Why, because he happen to loathe Beyonce? Does Beyonce singularly represent an entire race of people? You're an idiot.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 29 May 2004 20:29 (twenty-one years ago)
