I have to admit, for all the greatness of the album, the drumming on 'Isn't Anything' starts to get to me after a while if I concentrate on it--disruptive snare fills on EVERY fourth beat it seems like sometimes...

[chaki!!!!!!!] i saw them with broadcast[chaki!!!!!!!] and fuckin broadcast owned them[chaki!!!!!!!] and they were the openers!![booobical] but theres so much depth in their music[chaki!!!!!!!] i dunno seems derivative to me[booobical] well, i dont see anyone else out there doing the same thing[chaki!!!!!!!] theres lots of people being boring[chaki!!!!!!!] sigur ros for example[booobical] sigur ros is base[booobical] they are so boring[chaki!!!!!!!] word![booobical] and theyre boring and unfulfilling and unemotional, strictly to be that way[booobical] i mean, i see godspeed as the existentialists band[chaki!!!!!!!] haha[booobical] its kind of like, the human spirit being expressed through music[chaki!!!!!!!] haha[booobical] showing that life is no good[booobical] but we can actually get out of it[chaki!!!!!!!] haha

Jaki is like a funky drum machine--so incredibly precise, so metronomic, but with soul. If you can't feel it, then you are to be pitied. Listen to "Halleluwah," "Mother Sky" or "Vitamin C," if you doubt. I can't believe I even have to defend Jaki: It's like arguing for the benefits of receiving a blowjob.

That's funny, because I was in a band with the best drummer I ever played with, and the rest of us said we never really listened to his drumming. But we meant it as a compliment - he just permeated our minds and became part of everything we were playing. Lousy drummers, you have to listen to all the time: "What the heck's he doing now? Is he going to come out of this fill right?"
