The Donnas sound like Joan Jett if she had given up sexual ambiguity and had total control over the Runaways.

i.e. I'm Gonna Keep On Lovin' You is a cookie-cutter copy of the Jett version, only with four singers, and if they don't intentionally rip her off (homage, whatever you want to call it) then their producers do.

My vintage, hot, and skin-tight Joan Jett and the Blackhearts t-shirt (last time worn: the night I met my ex) disappeared from the laundry room in my building months ago... obviously somebody stole it (this isn't the "missing sock" syndrome)... I want it back!

The Donnas totally suck, because they're so easily confused with what's real in their genre: The Trashwomen and The Bobby Teens. They're not fat, they're not unhealthy, they're way too acceptable. What reason have they got to make music like that except simple emulation? Having said that, they're perfectly alright, I mean I guess they're sort of on a par with Britney, which is ok ...

As pre-fab as the Sex Pistols, but this time round the world didn't need whatever they were trying to sell. Also note how successivley the Donnas slip into further KISS debauchery while Joan Jett stepped into command. Also note the sadly overlooked Rondelles who eat The Donnas for breakfast.

the rondelles used to eat other bands for breakfast. they've devolved into self-parody over the past year or so, esp. live.

another thing about the donnas: saw them this past winter, with bratmobile opening. the way the crowd moved during the course of the show was disheartening -- during bratmobile's set, the front was wholly populated with grrrls, a la bikini kill shows of yore. bratmobile ended and the crowd of ladies dispersed, to be replaced by a bunch of smug dudes who were there to appreciate the 'irony' or at the very least the donnas' 'hotness.' the donnas themselves were boring although the drummer does indeed know how to twirl her stick.

Wotta tagline: "Come for the feminism, stay for the hot ChiXoR!"

Except the Donnas aren't hot, no sir. Their early singles and first album were so good; jesus how awful they've become!

Once again, all you losers are wrong. By the way, check out the Donna's fine "The Donnas Turn 21," out now on Lookout! Records... available at better record shops everywhere.
