There is it.

That idiotic blurb makes me not want to care, but Luke Vibert can generally be counted on for quality music.

(it's funny this thread should come along only a few minutes after I put "Throbbing Pouch" in the carousel)

it's not horrible. haven't had the slightest urge to listen to the whole thing straight through, though.

cutty (mcutt), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 13:24 (twenty years ago)

it's not bad. i usually dont dig this kind of music, but this is pretty uplifting. my only problem is he kinda gets stuck musically in some areas.

i can't wait ! - luke's stuff is always so fruity and bouncy like you should be wearing a tinsel wig and doing a silly disco dance with scorpio and keith cowboy

i aint sure, there are some fine tracks, but i do get a feeling of 'not that bloody preset again' at times. but yes it is fruity and bouncy in many areas.

Vibert seems to save his worst stuff for being Wagonchrist.

i cringed when i heard the vincent price/thriller laughter sample. just how many times has that laff been used ?

mark e (mark e), Thursday, 3 June 2004 12:15 (twenty years ago)

i think that is what luke refers to as "cheeky"

cutty (mcutt), Thursday, 3 June 2004 12:26 (twenty years ago)

hmmm. ok. i will file that. swap tired and overused for 'cheeky'.

mark e (mark e), Thursday, 3 June 2004 12:27 (twenty years ago)

sounds about right to me

it's started......

two months pass...
i like 'Shadows' a lot but WHAT is the track that the ominous strings are lifted from? i remember a track from the late 90s with the exact same strings/chords but could never ID - it's very James Bondy (and if it does come from a JB soundtrack can you tell me which as well as the late 90s track that used it?)

eleven years pass...

listening to tally ho! for the first time ever and boy does it sound old. like, just so site-specific.

scott seward, Tuesday, 30 August 2016 15:03 (eight years ago)

a lot of 90's brit stuff can sound like my grandma* in the 21st century....

(*either grandma really. they were not very hip**...)

(**the zeitgeist can be a cruel mistress...)

scott seward, Tuesday, 30 August 2016 15:05 (eight years ago)

(okay, i had to take it off in case someone came in the store. i would have been embarrassed...)

scott seward, Tuesday, 30 August 2016 15:06 (eight years ago)

Throbbing Pouch is classic but I haven't played it in a decade or more.

brotherlovesdub, Tuesday, 30 August 2016 18:03 (eight years ago)

I've never heard tally ho. I liked musipal. 90s/early 00s IDM humour is weird though, and very dated.
