In Praise of: KLONHERTZ "Three Girl Rhumba"

It's some guy named Klonhertz who did a straight up tech house cover of the Wire song... surprisingly, his/their/its vocal rendition sounds VERY Colin Newman.. almost to the point where you think it's a Newman a cappella. And, well, the version slams and makes me shake with joy. What else can I say?

Matthew P. put it up a couple of weeks ago. It rocks mightily. Course, Colin Newman ain't exactly the hardest impersonation in the world...

It certainly sounds like they just sampled the original and added beats.

There was a station promo for a commercial television station here where a cover of 'Three Girl Rhumba' was the backing music. It sounded just like the original but cleaner, with less feeling and different percussion. It was shite.

If I find out that it was by Klonhertz, I fucking hate anyone who likes it.

Y'all.

There's a good and quite bizarre remix of the Klonhertz version (will check its name a bit later) which tries on bits of garage rock and Superpitcher for added neurosis.

Sasha, I think it is the Klonhertz version, but I've only seen that ad once.

Tim, that may be the Play Paul remix.

Either way, they got my props.

I really liked it when I first heard it, but then went back to listen to the orginal and realized that it didn't really add anything.

You gotta love the sticker on the single that exclaims "featuring the riff first heard in CONNECTION by ELASTICA" or some such
