The G!st b-side 'Yanks' is truly wonderful in a repetitive kind of way. 'Light Aircraft' is simply scary.

Re the album, I bumped into Stuart in an e-forum...he confirmed my suspicion that Nixon (credited on the album) was his dog, and supplied the lapping 'vocals' on one of the songs.

You'd probably like the Clientele's 'Suburban Light' LP.

As much as I adore the YMG Lp, there's nothing like this record. It's a horrible shame.

What happened with the Gist? It was in print for a while on CD on Rhino but only in the UK and pretty much never made it here. I've only heard comped tracks and the single, never heard the complete album. Jez, find out why it's not available!

Yo Dan, you can ask Stuart directly at http://www.appelstein.com/ymgforum. Someone needs to reissue his '90s solo catalog pronto - most of those releases were on Feel Good All Over, which of course has long vanished.

I have one of those CDs. Honestly I don't think we could handle his later solo releases. Everything we do, we invest so much money in that there has to be a relatively big market, and while I think I could sell a Gist CD, his solo records probably wouldn't do as well. I look forward to the point where maybe Acute can be big enough to put all sorts of worthy stuff back in print, but for now I want to focus on more landmark/lost type things. Don't know if you saw mention, but we're doing a Prefects CD now, and still waiting to sort out some stuff with the Lines.

A dog named Nixon, what a hip fuck Moxham is. The inner tray card of the Ryko re-ish has a priceless photo of the makings of two giant spliffs laid out on the mixing board. The band all look like gay poets, striped shirts n all. Awesome.

this sounds amazing! the idea of ymg, weed and cold storage studio sounds impossibly rich. w/ eno inspired interludes!
