The Seventh Seal is far from being the best song, it's closer to being the worst. Lyrics completely literal, key change predictable.

The best song is On Your Own Again.

"Get Behind Me" is definitely the best song on Scott 4, which has lots of other strong songs on it.

get behind me just seems a little hokey, and his scatting is less convincing as in old man's back again...

I don't really think there's a bad song on the album, although I wonder if people basically like Seventh Seal for its kitsch value (the morricone vibe, the ghostly choir). Scott 3 hangs together much better, though. There are some ropey lyrics on 4 too - so electric, so proud!

i like 7th seal for those things, but i wouldnt call them kitsch - i think theyre dramatic, and a pretty good companion to the film.

scott 3 is great, too. i think it's raining today is one of his best songs, esp for the terribly unsettling high strings that pervade. sons of is another of my fav scott songs, too. but unfortunately, funeral tango is on 3 and i just cant take that song sometimes...
