BSR Featured in The Wire
For the second year in a row, Britain's premier music magazine The Wire features a list in their "Charts" section compiled by Shauna & Scott of the BSR show "Joanne's Theory of a Radio Show." The list is called "The Providence Sound 15", and it's in the current (February) issue. Avant-garde musicians the world round now know exactly what records to buy in order to get a clue about the Providence music scene. You can check out The Wire at www.thewire.co.uk, although you'll have to buy a hard copy in order to see "The Providence Sound 15."

the zz pot cdr isn't that good. i would have chosen something else by Brinkman, like "Long Choms" which is two epic/sprawling dance tracks.

IAN THE BROWN CAMPUS IS CLOSER TO CLONEYVILLE THAN WARWICK FOR SURE!!!!

Also, there's a knights of timbre physical release, wow

I would vote all the stuff on load off that list.

the kites LP isn't essential, but the Necronomitron & Vincebus albums are both excellent. You just don't like metal enough.

So, is anyone going to see Black Forest/Black Sea tonight at the Okie St. Observatory besides me? DON'T MAKE ME ENDURE THE BEARDED FREAKOS AND ACID CASUALTIES ALL BY MY LONESOME :(

Ian Johnson (orion), Thursday, 3 June 2004 23:46 (twenty years ago) link

IMHO: Vincebus LP > Kites LP > Necronomitron LP

HAMBURGER NEURON GROUP (ex machina), Friday, 4 June 2004 01:00 (twenty years ago) link

imaho: kites > necrom. > vincebus...

necrom. seemed just like good brutal prog. nothing new there. vincebus was about three shades from some good ole thrashy stuffs. good i guess, but ... probably more endearing in a live setting.

vincebus live definitely does blow away the record.

the Kites LP is good, I admit. Better than most of his tapes, I think. "The Miracle of Thought" is up there, though.
