A REMINISCENT DRIVE

is anyone familiar with the album "mercy street" by a reminiscent drive? the reason i ask, is that a certain friend of mine has proclaimed it "the best album ever". after repeated listens all that i can conclude is that it is a rather lovely, soothing, a bit melancholy, a bit ethereal album....as for it being a "great" work?..nah i`m not convinced, but am i missing something? have i not quite fathomed the "themes" my mate keeps going on about? does anyone agree that its an undiscovered masterpiece? really, i`m rather sick of hearing about how great this album is from my friend (basically he`s patronising me) and those that he seems to have won over to his way of thinking. there`s nought worse than sweeping statements and arrogance about pop music if u ask me, but as a rather unassertive type i have trouble making arguments..particularly in the face of an incredibly argumentative so and so with a first class degree in philosophy from oxford. so please help me out, if u can. what`s "wrong" with "mercy street"?

one month passes...
nothing is "wrong" with the album. but to state that it it is the best is far beyond the pale. from a technical standpoint the sounds are played-out, the chord progressions are to be expected and the production is average at best. on the upside the use of samples are creative. maybe the "themes" that he is talking about is the fact that the same guitar arpeggio is through out the entire album, and if the cd player were on repeat, it ends where it begins. it is no masterpeice, maybe just a nice aural wallpaper.
