home video http://www.homevideooffice.com are a new signing on warp. i'm rather beguiled by their current single 'that you might'. junior boys, radiohead, nine inch nails. this a thread to monitor them in the run up an album. anyone else got any thoughts?

From the audio previews on that site, I was spectacularly unimpressed. The Junior Boys comparison is valid, it also reminded me of a twee-less, more uptempo version of Mum. But nothing grabbed me.

i'm not sure the samples provide enough to assess. i am certainly enamoured. not sure about the mum thing. but only time well tell if they have real substance i guess.

Yeah, you can't really draw conclusions from two minutes of music, but that's all that was there. I'll try to seek out the single you mentioned.

These guys are amazing. I adore ever single track on "No Certain Night Or Morning" but especially "That you Might" and "Penguin", which is new wavey moody awesome.

I had no idea there was a Home Video thread! Really love this album.

Yeah I searched for this before and didnt find it. 2004? Huh, Im so behind. I love the eovcative cinematic feel of the album; I find myself playing out foggy nighttime noir video clips in my head. Sketchy bad/good dreamspace scared resigned yearning. I don't normally blather on ILM at all but I have to about this.

The Citizen EP on Warp is pretty great too- dunno how much overlap there is with the album though.

This album is amazing. Yeah the guy sounds just like Thom Yorke, but that only seems to add to the excellence of it. It's like they thought "Well, Kid A is all well and good but it could be loads better". Best Electronic Rock band since Depeche Mode I say. Much better than Hot Chip or the Postal Service by a country mile.

New Home Video album "The Automatic Process" came out last week. It's really damn good. Much in a similar vein to their debut, really, but this isn't a bad thing. "Business Transaction" sounds alarmingly too Radiohead, but its a lovely melancholy jam nonetheless. "The Smoke" and "I Can Make you Feel It" are kickass electro-glooms. This shit'd go down well in a retro gothy club, if only anyone knew who they are at all!

"I Can Make You Feel It" has been kicking around since 2008, and I love it, so I'm kind of looking forward to hearing this.

Yeah they put most of that ep on the new album (always a little disppointing when that happens, but eh).

Still completely addicted to this album, this band have become one of my all time favourites. Bit obsessively so, tbh.

Stumbled across this by chance when googling something about this band yesterday: Home Video singer Collin Ruffino's doing a side project thats quite political, a concept album inspired by the Wikileaks/Assange fallout. Based on the track on this site I'm really quite excited to hear this, it's a lot moodier and more soundtracky than the HV stuff.
