Well, I'm not sure the Wolf Parade's coming out this year - it's probably kinda unlikely. But supposedly Isaac Brock is producing, so it could really be somethin' special.

ooh, is there a release date on the rilo kiley? details?

Josh Love (screamapillar), Saturday, 5 June 2004 02:22 (twenty years ago) link

I'm counting the days until Every Night by Saturday Looks Good to Me will be released (Sept 14).

So...what's your favorite Ida album? Will You Find Me, right? Mine too. Well, I heard that the material for the new Ida album is supposed to blow Will You Find Me away.

Ernest P. (ernestp), Saturday, 5 June 2004 02:39 (twenty years ago) link

i predict that the bardo pond & tom carter collaboration will "blow my mind, man."

Ian Johnson (orion), Saturday, 5 June 2004 05:31 (twenty years ago) link

Rilo Kiley is out July 27th. Self-released (on their own Brute/Beaute Records). It is gorgeous. They used a few different producers, with nice results - the song by Jimmy Tamborello, "Accidntel Death," is totally beautiful.

Neb Reyob (Ben Boyer), Saturday, 5 June 2004 05:59 (twenty years ago) link

interpol?

thesplooge (thesplooge), Saturday, 5 June 2004 12:51 (twenty years ago) link

Ernes, which version of "ambulance" by saturday looks good to me do you like better? The duet on All Your Summer Songs was the first one i heard, but then i got the first album and thought that it was a better song without the guy singing... except the ending was sorta weak (although the ending is weak on both versions) but yes, sept 14th (woo)

f. destouches (f. destouches), Saturday, 5 June 2004 15:35 (twenty years ago) link

Jenny from Rilo Kiley also has a solo record coming out--early 2005, I think.

Akiva Gottlieb, Saturday, 5 June 2004 15:45 (twenty years ago) link

Ernes, which version of "ambulance" by saturday looks good to me do you like better?

I can't pick. Sometimes I'm tempted to go with the one on the first album, but then the Summer Songs version has the best use of a Mellotron in probably the last thirty years.

Saw SLGTM play twice a week or so ago (Atlanta and Knoxville); the Atlanta show was great, but the Knoxville show was even better. People were dancing and cheering, and there was thunderous applause after every song...this was the ten-piece band lineup (with two saxes, trumpet, trombone, etc.)...wow. The new songs sound fantastic - Fred said that the only singers on the upcoming album will be Betty Barnes (who was on the tour), Erika Hoffman (on 3 songs), and himself.
