What's Nick Forte up to? I never heard that Christmas Decorations album.

weirdo dance / electronic music...]
that Christmas Decorations record was on Kranky, wasn't it?

Russ, Saturday, 5 June 2004 21:24 (twenty years ago) link

Yeah. The Pitchfork review A 2.3/10! Any dissenters?

Tim Ellison, Saturday, 5 June 2004 21:26 (twenty years ago) link

Ouch.

2 people with taste I trust (Dan Selzer and Tony Rettman) both had good things to say about Nick solo music.

this show ain't gonna be like that record. his last show at lit was pretty good (don't think he liked it, the thing about nick is that even the likes of pitchfork couldn't be as hard on him as he is on himself). it was kind of (old) vladislav delay-esque

I've only seen Nick once and he did guitar through many many pedals, which he says he doesn't do anymore, so who knows! It was great droney almost krautrocky. I did see Computer Couger once about a thousand years ago. I've never heard Christmas Decorations but I remember liking Beautiful Skin, I also remember when the likes of AP were going on about how they were on the cutting edge of neo-new wave or whatever. Had an interesting conversation with Nick once about the bittersweet feeling of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. i.e. a few years to soon.

Russ, are you just totally mining the Troubleman Unlimited society page for your photos? The other fellow in that photo is Joshua Gabriel, who is as kind a soul you're likely to meet on this planet, and probably one of the most knowledgeable types when it comes to late 70s/early 80s DIY type stuff. He keeps trying to sell me on a band called the Spics.

I like to post pics in these threads, and I remembered seeing this photo of Nick when I was browsing through TMU looking for one of you for the Glenn Branca show thread.
It's better than any of the press photos on the Schematic site.
