sorry about other text. It was an accident.

I was listening to this nice 1982 song "Anticipation" from the Bar-Kays and wondered which kind of drum machine was used.

Was it an Oberheims, Linn or Roland?

Linn. The Oberheim has a slightly different sound to the Linn but the Roland sound is totally different - analogue electronic simulations of drum sounds rather than samples of actual drums. Think of Marvin Gaye's 'Sexual Healing'.

It's difficult to tell because the quality on the clip is poor. I can state pretty confidently that it's not an Oberheim or a Roland. But with Linn there was the Linndrum and the earlier machine (LM-1?).

They've got reverb on it so that gives it a different sound..plus the clip is poor quality like I said..but a Linn of some kind I'd say.
