(No, it's not a cover version)

Just that, I se the hives are back, and no I don't hate them but I wonder do I need them? No. I wouldn't cross the road to hear the new stuff but if it comes on the radio I'll give it a listen and maybe even be pleasantly surprised. Then I wondered: Who else made such a self-defining record that everyone loved so much, they didn;t want the next one? Pulp spring to mind (not for me, but for many).

Hmmmmmmmm.......

I'm scared to hear the next Yeah Yeah Yeahs LP.

I'm scared to hear the next Yeah Yeah Yeahs LP.

stevie (stevie), Monday, 7 June 2004 13:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Hmm, well that sounds promising.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Monday, 7 June 2004 13:56 (twenty-one years ago)

After YHF I couldn't imagine wanting another Wilco record, and I mean that in both positive and negative ways.

Raymond Cummings (Raymond Cummings), Monday, 7 June 2004 14:11 (twenty-one years ago)

The new Hives album will be called Tyrannosaurus Hives, so you know it must be very good.

Unknown User, Monday, 7 June 2004 16:10 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm not turning on them. Quite the opposite! I have so much love invested in them that I'm scared they'll disappoint me.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Monday, 7 June 2004 17:48 (twenty-one years ago)

i hope the YYY make some songs as good as they are a band.

thesplooge (thesplooge), Monday, 7 June 2004 17:48 (twenty-one years ago)

go fuck yourself

Joseph Larkin user (Joseph Larkin), Monday, 7 June 2004 19:37 (twenty-one years ago)

BEST ARGUMENT EVER

HAMBURGER NEURON GROUP (ex machina), Monday, 7 June 2004 19:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Um, "go fuck yourself" was not written by me (see the email address).

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Monday, 7 June 2004 20:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Ummmmmm, yeah it was.

JosephLarkin user (Joseph Larkin), Monday, 7 June 2004 20:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Who is Joseph Larkin?

David A. (Davant), Monday, 7 June 2004 21:25 (twenty-one years ago)

if a new Hives album means more interviews with Howlin' Pete and more hyper-animated videos then I'm all for it. Any good songs on it will just be icing on the cake.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 7 June 2004 21:28 (twenty-one years ago)

He walks up walls in the new one. And Dr Matt Destruction has still got his moustache. And is still called Dr Matt Destruction.

I love the Hives.

WOOOOOO!!!!!

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 7 June 2004 21:36 (twenty-one years ago)

It's not Joseph Larkin, either. This guy has a hard on for anyone who cross-pollenates ILM and the FMBB.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Monday, 7 June 2004 21:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Also, Vigilante Carlstroem appears to have figured out a way to transfer flab direct from the waist onto the jowls. It's quite something.

being the hi-quality Windows Media stream of the video.

that link didn't work for me but I watched it off the NME site (without sound, I'm at work) and...

!

this video did a lot to brighten my day.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 7 June 2004 22:06 (twenty-one years ago)

I think that's the same set the Rolling Stones filmed "She's So Cold" on.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 7 June 2004 22:06 (twenty-one years ago)

It basically sounds like The Hives with slight Jam inflections. Best bit of the video - when Pelle puts his hand in front of his mouth to whisper into Chris Dangerous' ear and just carries on shouting as normal.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Monday, 7 June 2004 22:26 (twenty-one years ago)

I think it's just simply dreamy.

Johnny Fever (Joseph Larkin), Tuesday, 8 June 2004 00:20 (twenty-one years ago)

two years pass...

Thanks for looking out for me, guy!

Weirdly enough, I checked out the first Hives record from the library recently and I gotta agree with fake Joseph here -- it wasn't that hot.
