"it's official - usa/canadian album release
on may 31, the trashcans signed a licensing deal for the release of the weightlifting album in the usa and canada. the album will be released by spinART records, which has released the likes of the church, roddy frame, echo & the bunnymen, the pixies/frank black, camper van beethoven and many others. the album will hit the stores on august 31 and be followed by a tour around september/october. the tour dates are still being organized but expect 15-25 dates to re-introduce the band to the major markets. depending on how the album and tour go, there is always the possibility the band could return for more shows, but that's jumping ahead.
the master cd has been delivered to spinART and final album artwork is expected on wednesday, so the album will go into production shortly.
an announcement regarding japan should be forthcoming very soon and release dates for britain, europe, australia, etc. are being pursued and will hopefully fall into place for a release around september."
I'm a big fan, and one of my biggest musical disappointments was never seeing them live. Now, it might happen!

But if I compare this reaction to my first snap judgment of 'I've Seen Everything' then I should think the new one is absolutely brilliant in about 10-20 more listens.

("you can't go wrong with any of the four albums", though my fave is "I've Seen Everything")

About the show:-first off, they were great! Seeing them live made me realize how much work must have gone into those songs. When I listened to their albums, the songs sound so perfect that I take for granted all of the intricacies. I couldn't have asked for anything more from their performance.
-this was one of the worst shows I’ve ever attended with regards to people gabbing during the performance. This isn’t a problem during the more raucous moments, but with the nature of many of their songs, it was sometimes difficult to enjoy. WHY DO PEOPLE DO THIS!!!!! I had to move around quite a bit.
-what’s with the badgering the band with requests? I know that some of the audience just wanna show the band that they know the songs (even the b-sides!), but GIVE IT UP ALREADY!!! (give it up especially after you know the band isn't enjoying it)
PS: To that guy from the audience who sang "Obscurity Knocks” with the band during the encore: That is now in my short list of great moments I’ve witnessed at a show. Magic!
