I can't decide whether to go see Mission of Burma on Thursday or to just see Sonic Youth again. Has anyone seen Mission of Burma on the recent tour?

Thea (Thea), Tuesday, 8 June 2004 00:45 (twenty-one years ago)

um, because they are playing on the same night I should add

Thea (Thea), Tuesday, 8 June 2004 01:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Burma slayed in Vancouver and Portland. Score one for Burma.

Also, Kinski are opening, and (while MANY here will disagree), they kinda do certain aspects of Sonic Youth better than Sonic Youth do them today... granted, more out of influence of them than anyone else...

*waits for 500 angry responses*

maybe one or two angry responses at best. Sonic Youth fans are kinda sluggish these days.

scott seward (scott seward), Tuesday, 8 June 2004 01:42 (twenty-one years ago)

A-ha, mmm-hmm.

Thea (Thea), Tuesday, 8 June 2004 01:46 (twenty-one years ago)

And Kinski indeed rock. So go see them.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 8 June 2004 01:51 (twenty-one years ago)

this is the Henry Fonda threatre show, right? When is that?

donut bitch (donut), Tuesday, 8 June 2004 01:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Thursday.

Could always hijack a firetruck and siren along Fountain Avenue, I suppose. Will Ned be heading north for the show?

Thea (Thea), Tuesday, 8 June 2004 01:55 (twenty-one years ago)

If you like ONOffON, you HAVE to go.

donut bitch (donut), Tuesday, 8 June 2004 01:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah I'd pretty much made up my mind before posting anything, I just needed a report fresh from the pit, so to speak.

Thea (Thea), Tuesday, 8 June 2004 02:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Given the cover that Burma did at the Portland show during their encore, "pit" is certainly the right word.

donut bitch (donut), Tuesday, 8 June 2004 02:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Hmm again. Musical crossword puzzle begins...

Thea (Thea), Tuesday, 8 June 2004 02:06 (twenty-one years ago)

and surely EJL will be at that show, which always means you chose the right show.

donut bitch (donut), Tuesday, 8 June 2004 02:07 (twenty-one years ago)

"Given the cover that Burma did at the Portland show during their encore, "pit" is certainly the right word."

I hope none of their fans got hurt.Orthopedic shoes don't always have the best traction.

scott seward (scott seward), Tuesday, 8 June 2004 02:09 (twenty-one years ago)

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

(actually most of the crowd at the Portland show weren't even BORN yet when MoB stopped recording records initially... it was an all-ages show)

donut bitch (donut), Tuesday, 8 June 2004 02:11 (twenty-one years ago)

What, another friend of EJL?

EJL is introducing Sonic Youth, which definitely helped sow my original seed of Burma doubt. EJL, how could he.

Thea (Thea), Tuesday, 8 June 2004 02:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Will Ned be heading north for the show?

There was a possibility but I don't think it's happening unless somebody volunteers. And yes, Donut Bitch knows the good Mr. EJL, mostly online though. He's introducing Sonic Youth? He'll do fine.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 8 June 2004 14:30 (twenty-one years ago)

He made a rather surprising association between Eleanor and Matt of Fiery Furnaces and Donnie and Marie Osmond. Brave; they were already on-stage...

Thea (Thea), Tuesday, 8 June 2004 17:30 (twenty-one years ago)

EJL is a fine figure of a man. :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 8 June 2004 17:33 (twenty-one years ago)

GO SEE SONIC YOUTH

John Wiese is perfoming! In the Troubadour! You can enjoy looking at all the confused indie kid faces!

15-minute break for...Viagra injection? Nap?

I just realized Aja has stopped posting for a while.

COMPLETE coincidence, by all means.
