Fabolous Bacardi Ad: Yech!

Anyone else heard this travesty? Very lengthy, very cloying, & a big name rapper A) rippin' another rapper's schtick (aka bacardi) and B) straight shilling.

I don't think I'd mind if the track was better, though. (cf Britney)

If I hear one more rapper rhyme 'party' with 'Bacardi' - the bar might get wet.

― Tracer Hand, Wednesday, 14 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

He doesn't rhyme party with bacardi. He comes awful close though. When did bacardi become the new hip drink anyway? I recall it was cris for the high class and hennesy for the ghetto. And gin & juice of course. Also 40s... but Bacardi?

― Sterling Clover, Wednesday, 14 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

cuz it's Carib, from the I-slands. ray ray ray.

― Tracer Hand, Wednesday, 14 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

good test of what kind of hiphop fan you are, divide number of henny references by cris refs and multiply that by old e refs. dead prez soy milk refs wreck the curve though. and i want the kardinal offishall album bad.

Ever since Josh said he was going to write something about Kardi I've been feeling like I'm not going to know why I like the album so much until the moment I read what Josh has to say. HINT

You like it 'cause it's good and you have impeccible taste, duh.

Maxine...oh, miss Maxine...

R. Kelly (that bastion of what IS hip-hop) name-checks the rum on (duh) "Fiesta".

Meanwhile, Captain Morgan is still reeling from that Garth Brooks song. Hot diggity.

GET SPICY!

― Tracer Hand, Wednesday, 14 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Captain Morgan's Rum, you KNOW it's the one!

Comin alive after 5!

― Tracer Hand, Wednesday, 14 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

When did bacardi become the new hip drink anyway?

When they figured out it rhymed with party, duh.

― Kris, Wednesday, 14 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

But it doesn't rhyme with "party". Not unless you pronounce it "pardy". Or "Bacarti". It DOES, however, rhyme with "your arse looks lardy".

― Kodanshi, Thursday, 15 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

American pronunciation = "pardy"

others may say "pah-tee" but they are ah-tee fah-tees

― Tracer Hand, Thursday, 15 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Dude I almost forgot! In "Where the Party At" Nelly goes "mix it with the Cris baby what's wrong with that?"

There is a LOT wrong with that, Nelly. That is fucking NASTY.

― Tracer Hand, Thursday, 15 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Which is the punchline. In fact he sez "don't see nothing wrong with that" playing up his low-class thang. I shudder to think what will happen to the rap world when somebody realizes they can rhyme "Becks" and "sex".

― Sterling Clover, Thursday, 15 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Probably the thing that bugs me most is that the production would be top-notch single quality if the needs of marketing to repeat product name & slogan over and over didn't destroy the flow.

― Sterling Clover, Friday, 16 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

"Becks" and "sex"

hey i don't see nothin wrong with that. but do rappers drink Becks??

― Tracer Hand, Friday, 16 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

They will.

― Sterling Clover, Friday, 16 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Sterling, things could be worse. The ad could center around (shudder) Jermaine Dupri!

― Tim, Friday, 16 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

What about America's King Of Beers and German Coprophilia as a new thang???

― Kodanshi, Wednesday, 21 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Well probably be awhile before any rapper raps about Screech so I be safe, probably Goslings is a safe bet.
