Apropos of nothing, along with songs with handclaps in 'em [with the possible exception of the Macarena]I'm a sucker for songs that feature snippets of radio in them.

Of course I can only remember the excellent beginning to 'Burn It Down' on 'Searching for the young soul rebels' and, at a pinch, 'Rock 'n' Roll Radio' from 'End of the century'.

Can any of you kind souls direct me to any more?

As a side note, I tried this myself on a mix tape back in 1989, and have been left forever wondering who it was who got a 1-1 draw away to Scarborough in the Littlewood's Cup...

"technical difficulties" by dr octagon (fake radio) or most recordings of AMM (no songs)

Two obvious ones that spring to mind are "I am the Walrus" by the Beatles + "F.M." by the Slits (Peel Session version). There's also plenty of avant-garde pieces by the likes of John Cage + Holger Czukay but these don't qualify as songs. I'll try + think of some more examples for tomorrow.

Thanks folks, keep 'em coming!

And don't worry 'bout the avant-garde!

Cheers!

"sound on sound" by the Big Boys--but good luck trying to get ahold of it...

"Sound on Sound" is (reissued) on The Fat Elvis isn't it? I think you can still get it.

"Cheeseburger" - Gang of Four. Although it might be T.V. - or it might be faked.. (can't remember it exactly) "39 estimated city m.p.g. ... 54 estimated highway m.p.g.!"

"Paintwork" - The Fall - includes some dial scanning.

These two are maybe not "song-y" enough to qualify:

- Chi Pig. Cuts up a bunch of radio chatter, fetures a snippet of "Hotel California" - sounds like Don Henley is speaking in tongues. <p> Negativeland has lots of 'em - "Time Zone" is among the best.<div class='postcontrol'><p><span class='posterinfo'>― <span class='name'>Dave225</span>, <span class='extendeddate'><span class='date'>Thursday, 15 November 2001 01:00</span> <em class='howlongago'>(twenty-four years ago)</em></span> <span class="functions"> <span class="functions"></span></span></p></div></div> <a name='msg7'></a><div class='message'>

(title withheld due to - i forgot it) - Chi Pig. Cuts up a bunch of radio chatter, fetures a snippet of "Hotel California" - sounds like Don Henley is speaking in tongues.

Negativeland has lots of 'em - "Time Zone" is among the best.

I think it's a TV on PAINTWORK.

Brian Eno tunes a radio between 'The True Wheel' and 'China my China' on TAKING TIGER MOUNTAIN.

"Harmonium" by Stereolab begins with a snippet from Negativland's radio show "Over the Edge".
