The Beasties were old and in charge. But I really started this thread cuz they keep showing Eminem and D12 dressed up like Guns & Roses backstage. I can't wait. (Hey, I'm bored!)

scott seward (scott seward), Friday, 11 June 2004 00:52 (twenty-one years ago)

And I'm home alone. well, yer never alone with a cigarette.

scott seward (scott seward), Friday, 11 June 2004 00:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Which one had gone completely gray?

I still hate the voice of the one who was wearing a trucker hat and shades.

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Friday, 11 June 2004 01:08 (twenty-one years ago)

They are all pretty gray. I'm always impressed by how skinny they are. I'm just jealous. Unless they are junkies. Then I'm not.

scott seward (scott seward), Friday, 11 June 2004 01:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Missed the Beasties. When I turned it on the YYYs were on. Karen O had a new hairstyle. Yeah.

AaronHz (AaronHz), Friday, 11 June 2004 01:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Missed all of this, but I'm sure they're re-broadcast.

Words cannot fully express the contempt I have for D12.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 11 June 2004 01:20 (twenty-one years ago)

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs were underwhelming. I kept wishing it was the Cure. Great set though.

scott seward (scott seward), Friday, 11 June 2004 01:20 (twenty-one years ago)

The confetti guy was out to get her.

scott seward (scott seward), Friday, 11 June 2004 01:21 (twenty-one years ago)

the chorus of that Beasties song is so lame. Even for the Beasties.

scott seward (scott seward), Friday, 11 June 2004 01:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Karen O can't seem to sing that song live as well as she does on the record. I did see Eminem dressed up as Axl. Fun. They're gonna rebroadcast it directly after the post show, as usual.

AaronHz (AaronHz), Friday, 11 June 2004 01:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, did ya see the YYYs on MTV etc? They looked incredible with that whole spring garden set. But mostly they just seemed really psyched to be there. All smiles, hardly any 'singing' from Karen O. I about missed their performance, forgetful nature and all. So thanks for the reminder in form of thread, Scott. This was the only reason for me to watch the award show, but D12's GNR sendup seems promising.

Another thing...Will Ferrell should just quit while he's ahead. Guy's not funny anymore.

Lindsey Lohan was just nominated for sumt'n or other and WON. *SHOCKAH 'N' AWE*

Fr4ncis W4tlingt0n (Francis Watlington), Friday, 11 June 2004 01:33 (twenty-one years ago)

For some reason I had Lindsey Lohan confused with Jena Malone from Donnie Darko.

AaronHz (AaronHz), Friday, 11 June 2004 01:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Ashlee Simpson ain't Britney, motherfucker. She's a rawk star.

Fr4ncis W4tlingt0n (Francis Watlington), Friday, 11 June 2004 01:34 (twenty-one years ago)

ah these skinny little girls all look the same

AaronHz (AaronHz), Friday, 11 June 2004 01:37 (twenty-one years ago)

I wanna hear ashleeeeee's album. I didn't know that she rocks out.

Lindsey is a dud. where's hillary duff when i need her? (i've never actually seen hillary duff in anything. she just looks like a tough 16 year old. she looks jaded and worn out by the hollywood machine. i love that in a teen star.)

scott seward (scott seward), Friday, 11 June 2004 01:39 (twenty-one years ago)

For some reason I had Lindsey Lohan confused with Jena Malone from Donnie Darko.
-- AaronHz (aaronh...), June 11th, 2004.

I'd hit it anywayyyys.

Lindsey is a dud. where's hillary duff when i need her? (i've never actually seen hillary duff in anything. she just looks like a tough 16 year old. she looks jaded and worn out by the hollywood machine. i love that in a teen star.)
-- scott seward (skotro...)

Yummmm. Teen queen fantasies. Lindsey's a firecrackah, she. But yeah, Hilary looks more haggard and 'learned'. RAWR.

Random thoughts
Who the hell made those crap-ass CGI clips?
Jack Black's shirt: Vote Kerry...oh lord
Napoleon Dynamite: looks good, but what on earth is it about?

Fr4ncis W4tlingt0n (Francis Watlington), Friday, 11 June 2004 01:48 (twenty-one years ago)

those clips are horrible. 10 years too late.

scott seward (scott seward), Friday, 11 June 2004 01:50 (twenty-one years ago)

D12. Absolute shit.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 11 June 2004 01:52 (twenty-one years ago)

That D12 song fucking sucks. The stage antics were slightly amusing. The guy dressed as buckethead made me chuckle a little.

AaronHz (AaronHz), Friday, 11 June 2004 01:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, to be a celebrity!

I wish one of them at least would have actually played a blistering guitar solo. Now that--...

Oh noes, Andy Dick being unfunny!

Fr4ncis W4tlingt0n (Francis Watlington), Friday, 11 June 2004 01:59 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah I was thinking how impressed I would've been if they had just busted out a note perfect version of Rocket Queen right then and there.

AaronHz (AaronHz), Friday, 11 June 2004 02:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Bling bling.

Fr4ncis W4tlingt0n (Francis Watlington), Friday, 11 June 2004 02:04 (twenty-one years ago)

what was with the chicks with swords? what a mess! even by messy MTV awards shows standards.

scott seward (scott seward), Friday, 11 June 2004 02:05 (twenty-one years ago)

You mean during D12? I dunno maybe they did that in the video?

AaronHz (AaronHz), Friday, 11 June 2004 02:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Non alcoholic punch. Yeah right you little boozer.

AaronHz (AaronHz), Friday, 11 June 2004 02:09 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't actually have old friends from high school that I never see anymore that i would be embarrassed by if I did see them, but If I did I would compare them to D12.

scott seward (scott seward), Friday, 11 June 2004 02:20 (twenty-one years ago)

My D12 theory is that Eminem couldn't get ICP into his fold so he decided to make his own crap version.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 11 June 2004 02:22 (twenty-one years ago)

My D12 Eminem theory is blackmail. Those guys must have some dirt on Em. Gay porn photos or something.

AaronHz (AaronHz), Friday, 11 June 2004 02:28 (twenty-one years ago)

he's just trying to keep it real yo

oops (Oops), Friday, 11 June 2004 02:37 (twenty-one years ago)

dave chapelle should do an installment of "when keeping it real goes wrong" about em and d12.

oops (Oops), Friday, 11 June 2004 02:38 (twenty-one years ago)

yo he's trying to keep it real but he's playin himself, dog

AaronHz (AaronHz), Friday, 11 June 2004 02:39 (twenty-one years ago)

They're re-broadcasting this right now. Tom Cruise and Jamie Foxx have absolutely no chemistry together.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 11 June 2004 02:45 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah, you and Tom would make a much cuter couple, Alex.

Al (sitcom), Friday, 11 June 2004 02:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh baha.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 11 June 2004 02:58 (twenty-one years ago)

nuLindsay has the same hair color and skintone as Kate Beckinsale. Scary.

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Friday, 11 June 2004 03:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Paris Hilton is a harpee.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 11 June 2004 03:02 (twenty-one years ago)

She really looked like shit.

AaronHz (AaronHz), Friday, 11 June 2004 03:04 (twenty-one years ago)

It's time for Snoop to retire.

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Friday, 11 June 2004 03:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Kate Beckinsale's hair is like a helmet.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 11 June 2004 03:13 (twenty-one years ago)

When did Kate Beckinsale become a sex symbol? was she always one?

scott seward (scott seward), Friday, 11 June 2004 03:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Overnight, seemingly.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 11 June 2004 03:15 (twenty-one years ago)

It's time for Ashton Kutcher to retire. Enough already

AaronHz (AaronHz), Friday, 11 June 2004 03:16 (twenty-one years ago)

She must have a new agent/publicist.

scott seward (scott seward), Friday, 11 June 2004 03:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Cripes do the Beasties look old. Adrock's startin' to look like Robert DeNiro.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 11 June 2004 03:17 (twenty-one years ago)

This show was bad. I know, I know, they are all bad. But at least some of them manage to tap into some sort of MTV teen movie/boy band/rap/goofball-of-the-moment zeitgeist. But really, andy dick and the rest of them are tired now and they need to sleep. Maybe next year.

scott seward (scott seward), Friday, 11 June 2004 03:19 (twenty-one years ago)

MCA looks like a Junior College Algebra teacher

AaronHz (AaronHz), Friday, 11 June 2004 03:19 (twenty-one years ago)

But the Beasties are still rockin' and clockin' and hippin' and hoppin' and... hahahahaha, aren't they rich yet? Why can't they run a nice little film production company and sit by the pool.

scott seward (scott seward), Friday, 11 June 2004 03:21 (twenty-one years ago)

WHO IS KATE BECKENSDALE AND WHAT HAS SHE BEEN IN?? I MEAN, YEAH SHE WAS IN THOSE TWO MOVIES, BUT WHAT ELSE BECAUSE SHE'S BEAUTIFUL BUT UNSPECTACULAR.

Lindsay Lohan needs to show me her titties.

TheNewJMod (JMod), Friday, 11 June 2004 03:26 (twenty-one years ago)

The YYYs performance was pretty, and I like the song, but it would've been better if Karen O sang it better. Her voice seemed kinda shot.

Fr4ncis W4tlingt0n (Francis Watlington), Friday, 11 June 2004 16:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Why the "oh lord" to Black's "Vote Kerry" tee, Fr4ncis?

Neb Reyob (Ben Boyer), Friday, 11 June 2004 16:18 (twenty-one years ago)

My Eminem theory is that he's a nicer person than your average famous dude and brought his old friends to the party. And that he's always been Weird Al, but with an agenda.

gabbneb (gabbneb), Friday, 11 June 2004 16:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Weird Al has an agenda! TO ENTERTAIN THE PEOPLE!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 11 June 2004 17:07 (twenty-one years ago)

like Reagan? Eminem's new (well, new to me, anyway) song sounds like Weird Al, doesn't it? (Or is there where I learn that W.A. got flow and I hide in the corner?)

gabbneb (gabbneb), Friday, 11 June 2004 18:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Dexter Holland duet?

gabbneb (gabbneb), Friday, 11 June 2004 18:13 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm upset by Lindsay. WTF's happened to her? She was really great on Punk'd and suddenly she's about to turn 18 (so that's a lot of pervert guild members switching to Hilary Duff) and erasing her failry decent skintone and her nipples out of existence. I await severaal C-Man threads by dawn.

Crickets Dance On Tequila Booty (Barima), Friday, 11 June 2004 18:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Why the "oh lord" to Black's "Vote Kerry" tee, Fr4ncis?
-- Neb Reyob (fiestasandsiestas[nospam...), June 11th, 2004.

Well, that's more personal than anything. But I'm betting he got that shit at Hot Topic or somewhere equally ludicrous; it looks it. Besides, it's just...tacky for a celebrity to wear a political endorsement for an award show. I would have said the same had it been about anyone else. Plus Kerry is an uncompromising dullard, but that's besides the point. Fuck both Bush and Kerry, AND the horse that they rode on. Vote for MEEEEE.

Fr4ncis W4tlingt0n (Francis Watlington), Friday, 11 June 2004 18:26 (twenty-one years ago)

I found the YYY's performance strangely moving. Though it was mostly the set and, as someone mentioned, how happy they seemed to be there. The drummer looked cute, too. I never thought the drummer was cute before!!

Sonny A. (Keiko), Friday, 11 June 2004 19:00 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm upset by Lindsay. WTF's happened to her?

The pictures above are the first time I've seen her look attractive

gabbneb (gabbneb), Friday, 11 June 2004 19:01 (twenty-one years ago)

I want to see the guitarist from the Yeah Yeah Yeah's fall into an active volcano.

this was the worst mtv movie awards ever!! usually i find them pretty fun, definitely the most entertaining award shows of the year w/o a doubt, but wow did they ever drop the ball here. what the fuck was up with the fucking "shitty horror videogame" theme? it was so terrible and ugly!

the yyys set looked cool though, def'ly a highlight. i went out for a smoke when the beastie boys came on. oh and the tom cruise jamie foxx thing was really really terrible.

s1ocki (slutsky), Monday, 14 June 2004 11:52 (twenty-one years ago)

The insufferable Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn sketch at the start (the joke was done better in the Orange adverts anyway) were an unfortunate commentary on the process whereby that shitty horror movie theme got okayed.
