Sadly the 2000's have been a real let down for horse music.

It's not from the last 5 years, but the untitled last track on Live's Throwing Copper album, "Horse," is a really good song.

I spotted this at turntablelab - Reissue - As far as I know, practically impossible to find on vinyl. - I first heard "La Horse" on the Francais Serge Cinema 3CD set. The drums are fucking bannanas like woody. I swear on the previous blurb on the daily updates last week mentioned the track on here, but i don't see it in the diplo descrip.

Requiem Pour Un Con EP
Serge Gainsbourg
Smoke Disque
price: $9.00
available: yes
item #: fr-779

"For a long time I was looking to get a copy of Melody Nelson, but I never got it until I traded some shit to this french record hound and it was cool. Lots of dirty rock style music with Serge freestyling about having sex with a teenage girl that he hit with his car (literally). That’s basically his style. But I was getting deeper and I learned about this rare 45 from the movie La Pacha. It’s straight dirty hip hop and it went for like 300 dollars. Now here it is on this EP with four other tracks from the S.G. soundtrack vaults I never heard of, and they’re all fire! “The Horse(1)” is an instrumental composition with twisting banjos, drum breaks, and clavichords. The other major track to note here is “Requiem Por Un Con(2),” and they hook you up with 2 minute bonus beat versions for both (3,4). That’s cool cause not all old grooves are created equal and I think these tracks actually have a shot at being played out in a club, and not just a nerdfest beatgayfest either. Other tracks are “Psychastenie, Cadavres En Serie, No No Yes Yes,” and “L’Alouette.” -Diplo

Patti Smith sucks

Jon in R'lyeh (ex machina), Monday, 14 June 2004 02:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Mr. Ed: Pretty Little Filly With The Pony Tail should have gotten far more air time than just the TV show.

Patti Smith doesn't suck as much as you might think.

(There is absolutely no way to make that second statement seem less sexualalized.)

Nick Mirov (nick), Monday, 14 June 2004 19:04 (twenty-one years ago)

"Heavy Horses" by Jethro Tull is my favourite, although it's from 25 years ago. It's also got tracks called Moths, Rover, Weathercock and The Mouse Never Sleeps.

The 70s were really the heyday for farm animals in rock music. I can't really think of anything in the last five years.

GOODBYE HORSES - Q-LAZZARUS

lee dorsey - ride your pony
disco tex and his sexolettes - ride a wild horse
laid back - white horse
america - a horse with no name

the new ponys album is pretty good, too.

chuck, Monday, 14 June 2004 19:09 (twenty-one years ago)

plus there was the horse-whinney sound that house of pain and cypress hill always used to use back in the day...

chuck, Monday, 14 June 2004 19:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh my god, almost forgot "I Like Horses" by the Hounds. A great one!

chuck, Monday, 14 June 2004 19:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Alas, Ginuwine's equestrian classic "Pony" has now passed the five-year limit.

Not to mention "Chestnut Mare" the horse-love song ever.

Kiley Dean - 'Keep It Movin'' might have the sounds of horses' hooves in the beat, though I ain't too sure.

Horse music all neight long

Rad Macca (Craig D.), Wednesday, 22 June 2016 16:02 (nine years ago)

Jan Kazda, bassist for Das Pferd (The Horse) is real good fill-in for Bill Laswell, who couldn't make it to the live improvs released as Ginger Baker's No Material. Don't think Kazda had ever played with these guys, also incl. Sonny Sharrock, Nicky Skopelitis, and Peter Brotzmann---would have been wild times under pressure even if he were a regular.
Reminds me I was already thinking about listening to ILM love objects Horse Lords today---

dow, Wednesday, 22 June 2016 17:05 (nine years ago)

He doesn't try to play like Laswell, just listens hard.
