DFA Tim Goldsworthy says he's "quite happy to die now". Should someone oblige him?

from pitchfork:

"Working with a legend is absolutely terrifying," adds Goldsworthy, "because Liquid Liquid are one of the things we turn to when we're listening to stuff, a root band. They still use the same instruments and sound exactly the same, and it's difficult to produce because... they have a pretty faultless back catalog. Am I gonna be the person to put an acid bassline on Liquid Liquid and be hated by thousands? I don't think so. But it's a complete honor and I'm quite happy to die now."

From Popbitch:

"EMI has bought hot New York record label DFA (eg LCD Soundsystem, The Rapture) in a megabucks deal."

Dan, if there's an UNKLE remix, he probably did.

B.A.R.M.S. (Barima), Friday, 1 October 2004 23:50 (twenty years ago)

hmm, I was wrong. research shows that it was Harvey, while Cut Chemist remixed Cavern and Psychonauts did Scraper.

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Friday, 1 October 2004 23:56 (twenty years ago)

That 'Scraper' mix was far and away the best one. Listened to it earlier.

B.A.R.M.S. (Barima), Saturday, 2 October 2004 00:48 (twenty years ago)

I never heard any of them...was too much a purist! Though I did recently hear UNKLE's edit of Can's Vitamin C on Tim Sweeney's new mix CD and thought it sounded really cool.

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Saturday, 2 October 2004 06:34 (twenty years ago)

Where's that mix available? The Cut Chemist remix is predictable and boring and Harvey's was sorta messy IIRC. The Psychos remix is decent, though not essential. Too 'atmospheric'.

B.A.R.M.S. (Barima), Saturday, 2 October 2004 09:54 (twenty years ago)

Not to derail though, but that 'Hot Blood'/'Invading Space' single where the Psychos went "DFA before the DFA did" was the first thing of theirs that really kicked my butt.
