Ask the opposite.

Which should I mention, the German Smurfs "Tekkno" CD? The Raymond & Peter "Shut Up You Little Man" CD? The Adventures Of Little Dynamo and Amazing Grace? (female version of Raymond & Peter)? Like Vinnie Barbarino says... "What? What?"

The Raymond & Peter "Shut Up You Little Man" CD?

Oddly enough, I just listened to that again this evening.

"You are JUST FUCKING UP!!!"

I have a cassette EP by Superball, an almost entirely unknown Japanese girl trio (who I mentioned on this board before) that sound like an avant garde or totally retarded version of the Shaggs with even less knowledge of how to play their instruments. My favourite song is the one with the penny whistle which upon my first hearing of it made me turn down my headphones as it was so piercing, and I usually never do that. It came with no information at all, no tracklisting or name of band even, but just a see through cassette case and tape decorated with loads of red and black arrows all pointing in different directions.

Going off the topic ever so slightly, did anyone see that handmade book by Syd Barrett in a recent MOJO? "Fart Enjoy" it was called, and it looked really funny, in both senses of the word. Like Vic Reeves' "Sun Boiled Onions" in a way, only sort of spookier. I'd love to own that.

Technohead by, erm... Technohead!!!!

Mainly on the strength of the hilarious original gabber version of "I Wanna Be A Hippy"...

Another one I've just remembered: a record by Chill FM feat Technotrance, bought mainly on the strength of the A-side title: "Fred West is Dead"!!!!

In fact, there's one or two other hardcore techno chunes I bought on the strength on their ridiculous titles. One that springs to mind is the little U96 ditty "I Wanna Be A Kennedy"!!!!! Another one is some Scottish EP I got after hearing the hilarious B- side track "Keep Away" in a listening booth. (3 minutes of gabber kicks and riffs interspersed with ultrabrief 50s B-movie samples: "Keep away from prostitutes!!!!" and "I now welcome you to the world of the LSD user!!!!!!") Similarly I got Paul Elstak's "Love You More (Harcore Edition)" on the strength of novelty gabber tracks like "Code Red" (Samples of Jack Nicholson ranting from "A Few Good Men") and "Die Like A Pig". (Samples from "The Untouchables" and "Deliverance")

Erm, actually that's more than a few!!!

Syd Barrett didn't know Beefheart (Vliet), but had the aura similar onto Trey Parker's College Films, such as GIant Beavers Of Sri Lanka, American History, the ridiculous Tubes Of Fire, The Avenging Conscience Remake, among others.
