Marco Damiani (Marco D.), Friday, 16 July 2004 12:23 (twenty years ago)

anybody know anything about the mighty robot in williamsburg?

there isn't a lot of information to post aside from the address. It's a great space, some people live there, probably a good idea to BYOB, etc.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 16 July 2004 13:24 (twenty years ago)

is there a cover? it wont "sell out", will it? is that even relevant?

peter smith (plsmith), Friday, 16 July 2004 13:29 (twenty years ago)

I looked for a cover on nyhappenings, but couldn't find one. I'd guess somewhere between $5 - $7, probably no more than the latter. And no, I've never heard of a Mighty Robot show "selling out," even when they've been super-packed.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 16 July 2004 13:41 (twenty years ago)

thanks for the info, stence. im totally psyched.

peter smith (plsmith), Friday, 16 July 2004 13:42 (twenty years ago)

have fun. Unfortunately I can't make it, missing Oneida for like the billionth time.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 16 July 2004 13:45 (twenty years ago)

have you ever seen em?

peter smith (plsmith), Friday, 16 July 2004 13:47 (twenty years ago)

nope.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 16 July 2004 13:50 (twenty years ago)

BYOB is the way to do it.

ddb (ddb), Friday, 16 July 2004 14:13 (twenty years ago)

yeah but beware: that l'il bodega 'round the corner sometimes closes early.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 16 July 2004 14:17 (twenty years ago)

somebody please say hello to ilx0r hurlothrumbo (keyboards in oneida) from gygax! and tell him i love baseball is reopened and welcomes Mets-talk in open arms.

gygax! (gygax!), Friday, 16 July 2004 15:16 (twenty years ago)

John, their drummer, was kind enough to host in his home for something like 3 or 4 days the band I'm managing when they played in NYC. We're still very very grateful.

Marco Damiani (Marco D.), Friday, 16 July 2004 15:30 (twenty years ago)

ill relay the message.

peter smith (plsmith), Friday, 16 July 2004 19:06 (twenty years ago)

peter smith (plsmith), Friday, 28 January 2005 18:56 (twenty years ago)

I'd be all over it if I wasn't in Missouri.

Trip Maker (Sean Witzman), Friday, 28 January 2005 19:12 (twenty years ago)

peter smith (plsmith), Friday, 28 January 2005 19:13 (twenty years ago)

They're playing Saturday at Northsix with Parts&Labor and Ex Models. I'd especially like to see Ex Models. Not positive I will go because I'll be getting ready to travel, but I thought I throw this out there.

Abbadavid Berman (Hurting), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 13:44 (nineteen years ago)

ex-models are sorta excruciatingly bad now. tho maybe kid will be playing drums with them? last time i "saw" them i think it was a drum machine (stayed in another room).

hstencil (hstencil), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 13:50 (nineteen years ago)

I'm not crazy about the Parts&Labor stuff I'm hearing online -- I'm sure they'll be fun live, especially with their sick drummer, but they sound kind of Lite--ning Bolt. A bit too tuneful and jammy for my taste.

As far as Ex-Models, I like some of the new stuff I've heard, but I haven't seen them live in a couple years.

Abbadavid Berman (Hurting), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 13:52 (nineteen years ago)

Ex-Models were really disappointing when I saw them last summer. Oneida is consistently great, though.

cdwill (cdwill), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 21:44 (nineteen years ago)

I heard these dudes were big-time grups.

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 21:59 (nineteen years ago)

Grups? Like on Star Trek? The "Miri" Episode? w/ Michael J. Pollard?

The Day The World Turned Dayglo Redd (Ken L), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 22:11 (nineteen years ago)

Kid is now playing drums in Ex Models, fyi.

Hurlothrumbo (hurlothrumbo), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 22:55 (nineteen years ago)

Who is Kid?

Abbadavid Berman (Hurting), Wednesday, 5 April 2006 01:27 (nineteen years ago)

planet earth: pls stop supporting oneida.

Jimmy Mod: My theme is DEATH (The Famous Jimmy Mod), Wednesday, 5 April 2006 01:30 (nineteen years ago)

cdwill (cdwill), Wednesday, 5 April 2006 01:49 (nineteen years ago)

I wonder how many ST refs by Ken I've missed, spread throughout the galaxy...

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 5 April 2006 12:46 (nineteen years ago)

Study, study, Morbius, or bonk bonk on the head from Kid Millions!

The Day The World Turned Dayglo Redd (Ken L), Wednesday, 5 April 2006 22:12 (nineteen years ago)

"planet earth: pls stop supporting oneida."

awww, c'mon!!! they're nice guys who just like to jam it out!

eedd, Thursday, 6 April 2006 13:48 (nineteen years ago)

Jimmy Mod: My theme is DEATH (The Famous Jimmy Mod), Thursday, 6 April 2006 14:50 (nineteen years ago)

aw man that first mighty robot show i saw was so awesome. you dudes getting ready to drop a ton of splits, hurlo?

pssst - badass revolutionary art! (plsmith), Thursday, 6 April 2006 14:57 (nineteen years ago)

Nothing to do with this show but I was listening to The Wedding and I can see what you were saying about the vocals before, Hurting. It does kind of drag things down a bit since the tunes, guitars, and synths are great. So I wonder if maybe the older stuff, where the vocals were less central, may have been stronger. I should pull out E1T1 and Secret Wars some time.

Sundar (sundar), Thursday, 6 April 2006 17:13 (nineteen years ago)

Peter, we have a new album out in July; a split w/Kinski in the fall; a couple more splits and a triple CD in 2007. Much work is being done...

In the meantime, can there please be more talk about Star Trek and less about NYC?

Hurlothrumbo (hurlothrumbo), Thursday, 6 April 2006 19:54 (nineteen years ago)

I am going to see Oneida in London on Saturday - assuming there is still a London to see them in.

The New Dirty Vicar, Thursday, 11 August 2011 15:58 (thirteen years ago)

fyi, just checked their website to see if they're playing the netherlands (notheydont) and there's a message saying that the venue for the london show has changed to "the lexington".

Some of the new tracks on What's Your Sign sound better or worse during one listening session or another (five so far), but "Civic Weather" gets me every time.
